My great grandmother wouldn’t cook in aluminum. She used plenty for food storage etc but wouldn’t cook in it.

I like lemons but that sounds a bit bizarre.

I may try it some day.

“”What about drinking stuff from aluminum cans?””

I would suppose the same would be true and I haven’t done much of that in all my years either. For some reason it was always something that stuck in my mind. Aluminum cans weren’t around when I was a kid. No fooling!

Aluminum is one of the most abundant elements.

on exposure to air, aluminum immediately skins over with a coating of Aluminum oxide. The problem from aluminum like cooking ware that lacks the coating is the problem

Auto, a few weeks ago wife and I had Cheers on Netflix on in the evening. I heard him start that line about beer but I was half listening (on the computer probably reading FR).

I didn’t really get what he was saying at the time, but when you just posted it, it’s BRILLIANT.

Interesting observations on both your parts.

I remember when aluminum cans came in when I was a kid.

My Dad has it now and my Mom used aluminum pans I think. But she is just as old and ate from the same cans.

I’ve never shaken the feeling there may be some contributory aspect of aluminum, but there’s been no epidemiological confirmation or other confirmation.

One thing known now, or beginning to be understood, is that not all dementias are the same.

I think it’s possible aluminum may affect some people, but not others.

Just speculating.

> People did everything with plastics. (Still do a lot). Plastics get into the bloodstream so easily, through ingestion as well as transdermally. I would like to see more studies.<

I quit using Saran wrap to cover food a while back. What did I substitute? Yup, aluminum foil. Sigh.

Interesting.

So, theoretically, if aluminum cookware (non-coated) were a problem, drinks from an aluminum can would not be.

I believe so. Modern aluminum cook ware is anodized but the harsh hot use and scouring eventually breaks it down. But, it is not at all like the old pots and pans of yore.

The best indication that aluminum cookware is not harmful is no lawsuits

Salt kills bacteria. It’s the same reason we use salt water or a saline solution to flush a wound. In the case of underarm odor, sweat itself has no smell. The stink is caused by bacteria that have proliferated and left their earthly bodies, leaving only their essence behind. Salting using a salt crystal right after you shower halts the growth of this bacteria before it can begin. I have used them for the last 20 years with no side effects.

Indeed, as Swordmaker posted on FR a few years ago. Extensive thread:

“”Just speculating.””

Hey, that’s usually what all of us do. That and our own experiences....

I don’t believe as another post said that science is zeroing in on the cause of Alzheimer’s. I’ve heard the same said about cancer for 60 years. Forgive me but after some number of years, everyone becomes a cynic.

I have a number of school friends who are dealing with dementia with their spouses and all anyone can say is “there but for the grace of God..........” The burden is so great. My mother did suffer from it and passed away in her early 90’s. The family was fortunate to have her taken care of by my oldest sister who was lucky enough to have several of her own kids nearby to help out. Most families aren’t that fortunate. I only had one child late in life - should have had more - HA!

"Aluminum is one of the most abundant elements." This is true. Did you know without it we would not have the Tinfoil hat crowd.

Heck, I’ve drank a half case of beer out of aluminum cans for the past 25 years and I’ve never had any kinda problem.

Why, just yesterday I was feeding my Tigers and then Johnny come marching home! Hurrah! Hurrah! And the clock struck 12 and it was time to go to school. And then the cat stole my wallet and drove my truck to Panama City and went fishing. And now I can’t find my keys.

So, I think the whole thing-a-ma-jig is a load of B.S.
