Not to worry, our ex-spurts will parrot whatever they're told to say.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

As the disease spreads in Africa the probability of more infected people getting off a plane a plane in the US will rise accordingly.

I mentioned this phenomenon yesterday. The language is subtly being ramped up from “Hey, no problem” to “Well, there could be very limited problems in isolated situations” to “We think there could be a problem” to “We don’t know WTF we don’t know, so yes, it’s time to panic. And we warned you!”

These assholes are being eaten alive across the entire blogosphere, and now even the NY Slimes and WaPo are on board with halting inbound flights from West Africa.

I’ve yet to look at it, but I heard O’Reilly came unglued about the West African flight thing last night.

I can only imagine what their internal poll numbers are telling them about what this is doing to them across the board in the upcoming election, which btw, has already started in Colorado.

The LA Times, certainly a voice for Democrats, admits today that only 85% of Ebola victims ever run a fever. The other 15% do not, so all the temperature checks at the airports will not guarantee that Ebola will not get into the country.
We have been lied to by government hacks once again. No wonder people are fed up.

I would like to see the head of the CDC go visit the nurse in her isolation ward wearing the same gear the hospital has been advised is “protocol”

or wait, would Mr Friedan be in a full spacesuit with contained filtered air supply?

Enquiring minds want to know

Unlike every other Obama-caused crisis, Ebola is sticking to Obama, the man, and there’s nothing the Dems can do about it. What I’m seeing as a blogger and someone active on social media is the drumbeat of “It’s not airborne...” over and over and over. These comments come out of nowhere, following up on any Ebola related article. Ebola as airborne doesn’t even have to be mentioned in the article or in comments by other readers. I believe this drumbeat comes from Dem operatives who are panicking about the upcoming election and are doing everything in their power to soothe the public that it’s impossible to catch Ebola unless you’re rolling around in it and shoving handfuls of Ebola in your mouth.

A recent blog post of mine saw 2 women just happen to drop by and leave comments, again, about Ebola being nothing to worry about and, “It’s not airborne, stupid.” Facebook posts of Ebola article draws the same trolls. Those Ebola bumper stickers in L.A. must have drawn some serious blood.

No $hit. Once we were able to sit on the bus with patients, next we cant come within 3 feet of them with proper CDC gear, and that is being revised again too. They are choosing PC over professionalism and good judgement.

So Frieden’s credentials is that he led the fight against big gulp soft drinks for NYC mayor Bloomberg.

I feel better now.

If airport screening is the answer, as opposed to banning flights, why ask patients who show up at hospitals with headaches, diarrhea, vomiting and fevers if they have been to Africa? They have been screened.

Of course ebola can’t penetrate a TSA screen, otherwise American citizens would be in danger.

Are we not puttng TSA agents in an extraordinary risky situation?

Our disease experts that are being used and the CDC are pikers. What is coming from them is like a bunch of Sophomore microbiology students that haven't a clue with which they are dealing. My epidemiology instructors are spinning in their graves. Every technique used to prevent and stop the spread of disease is being ignored for political correctness. Jeesh....facepalm.

The history of the last several thousand years is that when men refuse to take steps to stop disease, then disease stops itself after a large percentage of the population have been killed. It’s a pay me now or pay me later deal.
