Can’t quit Mitt: Friends say Romney feels nudge to consider a 2016 presidential run
The Washington Post ^ | October 13, 2014 | Philip Rucker and Robert Costa

Posted on 10/13/2014 4:57:31 PM PDT by Timber Rattler

Officially, Mitt Romney returned to Iowa, the quadrennial presidential proving ground, to give a boost to Joni Ernst. But at a closed-door breakfast fundraiser here Monday, the first question from a donor had nothing to do with Ernst’s Senate campaign.

“When you get elected to the Senate, your job should be to convince Mitt Romney to run for president again,” a donor told Ernst, according to several attendees. The Republican candidate said she would, while Romney laughed.

(snip)

Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee and now the tacit head of the Republican Party, visited Iowa as part of a feverish nationwide tour designed to help the GOP take control of the Senate. He has insisted that he is not interested in running for president a third time. But his friends said a flurry of behind-the-scenes activity is nudging him to more seriously consider it.

(snip)

Many Romney boosters believe that his window of opportunity will be in mid- to late 2015, should Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) or Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) ascend and party establishment types turn to Romney as a savior.

The GOP-maneuvering to run Romney again as a spoiler against any Conservative, especially Cruz, who dares to run in 2016.

Both parties run an insider against an outsider. Romney may be the insider or maybe it will be be Christie. The outsider may be Ted Cruz. It’ll happen how it happens.

Every four years the desire to lose to a pathetic Democrat arises in the heart of Mitt Romney, for how else to get the loser elected?

I hope Mitt goes for a long Cruz (and doesn’t just hide behind a Bush).

Yet we just have to vote for their not-so conservative candidates in November

Don’t do it Mitt. As you said before, your time is past. Mitt failed to level the killing blow when he had the chance.

Secretary of State, hell yes!!!

I noticed the subject of the headline (Romney) and I noticed the source (Washington Post) and that’s all I need to know. Everything else is completely predictable.

Now that Ernst said she would consider raising taxes and approves citizenship for Obama’s illegal ‘children’, Mitt’s all in on Joni, and she gets the spotlight with Hannity tonight. Look for her with Hugh Hewitt and O’Reilly.

Chihuahua Romney - the One and the Only "Magic RINO(TM)":

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn't make any sense at all.""

...”Romney as a savior.” Are you freakin’ kidding me? Why the hell would we need him to save us from Ted Cruz? Oh, because Ted’s a Conservative nut case; I forgot. Now, can anyone see why I loathe (borderline hate) the GOP Establishment? Just damn!!!

Hey buddy ... the "baby genius" that you want to thank for Obama's re-election is ....

drum roll ....

Mitt "Willard" Romney.

Perhaps you didn't have the chance to attend the 2012 GOP-E Convention in Tampa.

I live in Tampa, Floria and watched first hand, day by day, at the GOP convention ...

Mitt the arrogant "Baby Genius" did EVERYTHING (x10^9) to tell the GOP "conservative base" to go "live on the moon".

Hell, even Hitler didn't have generals that STUPID.

So ... up comes the election, and MILLIONS of conservatives REFUSED to work Romney's campaign (precients, yard signs, phone banks).

So little Mitt Romney ... LOST.

Who (my-oh-my) could have predicted that ?

Right, because he really showed his ability to deal with foreign policy. I mean look at the firm stance he took RE the attack in Benghazi in which a U.S. Ambassador and three other Americans where raped and killed at a U.S. consulate.

I mean he really hammered those points in the debates when he was discussing an act of war against the United States of America LESS THAN TWO MONTHS FROM THE ELECTION!

And of course he was against arming Al Qa'da ISIS rebels in Syria.

Oh wait that's right - he never mentioned Benghazi and he was FOR giving weapons to "rebels" in Syria.

Not someone I'd consider fit as any type of leader.

Mitt is worthless at foreign policy and couldn't even lead a search party to find his bare ass with both hands and a flashlight.

He needs to stay the hell out of government, disappear into oblivion, and take his fan base with him.

What a worthless milquetoast POS.
