Generals blast Obama's order of troops to fight Ebola

Two retired U.S. Army generals have blasted President Barack Obama’s decision to send U.S. troops to West Africa to battle the Ebola virus epidemic, saying the military is to fight wars, not disease.

In exclusive interviews with WND, retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. William “Jerry” Boykin and retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely condemned Obama’s decision, as U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel approved up to 4,000 boots on the ground from a previous ceiling of 3,000.

Radical Islam: Radicals want to kill westerners and non-believers. They will literally do anything to terrorize and kill, in any country on the globe. They would love to hop a plane to America and, if not blow it up in mid-air, wreak terror on the ground here. OBAMA’s SOLUTION: drone attacks only, no boots on the ground, try to understand their anger, don’t provoke.

Ebola: (Obama’s) CDC: No risk of it coming to America. We have sufficient protocols to ensure it can’t reach our shores and, if it does, to prevent it from spreading. OBAMA’S SOLUTION: Put “boots on the ground” in West Africa, while leaving air-travel wide open, and rely on the travel to honestly answer a questionnaire before boarding a pressurized germ-transportation tube with hundreds of additional petri-dishes, just waiting to carry the infection further.

Have I got this about right?

Should have sent 4,000 community organizers. Probably cheaper and more expendable.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but it's an EXCELLENT IDEA, If they saw what life was like in the African country founded by former slaves they might be a bit more respectful of what it takes to maintain a civilization. They'd be trained and come back with a job skill, and some knowledge about how to keep their communities clean and safe. For those who aren't working, the feds are supporting them anyway, so they might as well be training them to do something and let their salaries pay for their freebies.

The concern is that these soldiers, who will be exposed to the environment where the virus is prevalent, could bring it to the United States and potentially spread the disease as they rotate back to the United States and are assigned to other units.

If these troops are rotated back into the country without a 21 day quarantine - we can safely assume this is bio-attack on the United States

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

I can’t figure out why Barry didn’t send the GITMO detainees over there to fight Ebola. They aren’t doing anything right now anyway. Send the “great warriors”.

My cousin’s daughter went to Kenya (I think, somewhere in Africa) to teach the natives how to raise chickens. This is a girl who grew up in the suburbs. Now she has a job in Washinton DC probably as some sort of community organizer.

There is some precedent for sending the military to help.

The history of the Panama Canal includes failure on the part of the French to combat yellow fever and malaria.

Since the losses from yellow fever in the Spanish–American War in the 1890s were extremely high, Army doctors began research experiments with a team led by Walter Reed, a US Army physician. He and his team proved the hypothesis that mosquitos transmitted both diseases.

US Army physician William Gorgas applied these insights and eradicated yellow fever from Havana. He also led the fight against yellow fever in Panama allowing the construction of the Panama Canal. They named a big "cut" after Dr. Gorges.

So although there is some precedent I think this is a really bad idea.

They’re retired. They have no say.

(Unless, of course, they’re secretly organizing a group of young patriotic officers who will perform a coup d’etat and rid us of these fools....)

Sending our troops to fight Ebola is a brilliant move on BO’s part. We can't even keep Ebola contained in a stable environment like a Dallas hospital. So BO in his effort to destroy our military sends troops into an Ebola infested area to become exposed to and contract Ebola. So we loose troops that way also a great way to kill morale because the question will come up whether to pull our exposed troops back to the states to be treated or leave them to rot where they are. People will be afraid to have infected troops return or will be demanding their return. Dividing the people and alienating the troops. BO is the most brilliant terrorist to attack the US so far.

White Man’s Burden. Kipling
First and third verses.

Take up the White Man’s burden—
Send forth the best ye breed—
Go bind your sons to exile
To serve your captives’ need;
To wait in heavy harness,
On fluttered folk and wild—
Your new-caught, sullen peoples,
Half-devil and half-child.

Take up the White Man’s burden—
The savage wars of peace—
Fill full the mouth of Famine
And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end for others sought,
Watch sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hopes to nought.
