The Egads and its cousin the Omigod were just proto-types, goodness that thing is ugly. But except for the front end, I guess they were predicting smaller cars? Way too early. My first thought, based on the windshield and its general "aerodynamic" shape was the first Porsche, built and sold in the US. Today, a very collectible sports car, but as the powertrain was designed around the VW, it was low on horsepower. Not until 1964 did the competent Porsche 911 make its first appearance as a "901".

The Gadabout (page 12 NYT) - inspiration for the notoriously ugly Rambler?
Seems to me the 30’s was the zenith of good taste - elegant car design as well as clothes. Seems like elegant style went downhill after that.
