A candidate in North Miami's mayoral runoff election is claiming he's the victim of dirty politics after, he said, dozens of his campaign signs were either defaced or stolen.

Block after block, Kevin Burns' signs have been slashed, and in some cases, are completely gone. "Most likely [they used] a box-cutter, and they just, it takes two seconds. It's only corrugated plastic," he said.

Strangely, the only signs apparently being cut up and destroyed are Kevin Burns'.

What a coincidence.

His opponent, Smith Joseph (not Joseph Smith) claims Kevin Burns is....wait for it.....purposely destroying his own signs to get sympathy.

Now why would Kevin Burns need to do that. Doesn’t he have his “white privilege” card on him?

There are some ways to discourage this sort of thing. Doe urine is very discouraging, and effective at marking perpetrators. It's an act of passion, also, putting this kind of behavior outside the comfort zone, so to speak, of any but a handful who are not already union drones or similar automata who are part of other mass movements.

And there are other discouragements, as well, more appropriate, perhaps, to semi-urban settings.

Unfortunately, counter-measures for Yard Sign Tactics is a specialty, a skill better suited to the planning stages of a campaign and not usually near the end, when each moment prior to the polls closing is exponentially more valuable the one before.

Doe urine

I was watching a Swedish show, and the German MIL visits, wants to try the local dishes, and opens a can of fermented herring in the kitchen, spraying it.

The DIL and kids set up a tent outside...

Locally, maybe for the last anarchists camp-in, was hit one night with liquid chicken sh..

The anarchists decamped.

Back when I was Republican Party Chairman we had this problem every Halloween that fell in an election year. Somehow Republican candidates' signs disappeared from yards, and ended up on a pile in some out-of-the-way place. By some strange coincidence, this didn't happen to the signs of Democrat candidates. The day after Halloween, I'd go around locating the piles of signs and calling the candidates to come to my place and retrieve them.

Of course it was just a Halloween prank -- NOT.
