Great essay on the diversity of opinion among conservatives and how we must eventually unite.

"There will be dismay about effort wasted fighting among ourselves, and laments about circular firing squads, and exasperation that everyone isn’t marching to the beat of the same drummer. But in today’s conservative movement there’s no drum major.

And there shouldn’t be. No one faction will have it all right. The establishment will overvalue going along to get along, and insurgents will overly cherish fighting for fighting’s sake."

Unfortunately the GOP is full of liberals who will do all in their power to sabotage the “conservative future”

Republicans had the House and Senate in 2000 and George W Bush (the “compassionate conservative”) in the White House... they had their opportunity to do all the things they had been promising the base for years. And W’s first major act was to invite Ted Kennedy over to help him draft No Child Left Behind!

Both parties are all about expanding and protecting their power - nothing more, nothing less!

"Repealing and replacing Obamacare."

No, no, no, no!

Repeal? Yes. Replace? Then you've accomplished nothing.

The best way to accomplish all this is to bludgeon the base back into the back of the bus where it belongs.

We’re racists, out of touch socons and radicals who are despised by our betters.

Oh, by the way, they are also entitled to our votes. Just ask them.

They crossed the Rubicon. If they don’t run conservatives, they can find their votes somewhere else.

I agree with the points in the OP, all but replacing Obola-Don’t-Care.

Let’s roll healthcare back to before Ted Kennedy’s HMOs and allow it to return to the free market system, where we had excellent care and personal relationships
with our doctors and nurses. The government should have not one whit of control over our health care. That is simply too much power to give to bureaucrats who
don’t give a flying fig about their constituents and only concentrate on how much power and wealth they can accumulate off our backs and the fruits of our labor.

NO OBOLA-DON’T-CARE REPLACEMENT!!
