Honolulu, Hawaii, city officials have ended a plan to rename a beach after President Obama, who was born and grew up there. Two Honolulu City Council members proposed renaming Sandy Beach Park after President Obama; however, residents strongly came out against the proposal. From the AP: The beach is a popular [sic] for bodysurfing on Oahus east side. It was a favorite for the president as he grew up. He bodysurfed there while on vacation during his 2008 campaign.
Martin says in a statement that he heard historic and cultural sensitivity concerns from the community about the name change.
He says there may be other public facilities more appropriate to honor the president.
Its not that the president isnt worthy of some degree of recognition, but perhaps we should look at other areas besides Sandy Beach, Honolulu Council Chairman Ernie Martin, who proposed the change, told KHON-TV. This isnt the first time the president was turned down for an honorary naming. Last month, the City of Chicago dropped plans to name a high school after President Obama. Comedian Jimmy Fallon gave a comedic reason for the decision:

Yeah, like the time Fmr NJ Gov Christie Whitman had a men's room in one of the rest areas on the NJ Tpke named after Howard Stern.
The Barack Hussein Obama Sewer Treatment Depository of Honolulu.
Stopped right there.
slap!
Obviously racist.
That must be the beach where Barry hooked up with old white gay guys who had money for drugs and sex.
Still, some things have been named after President Obama, including multiple roads, municipalities and even living organisms, like spiders. In 2012, a scientist named an extinct lizard after him. Also in 2012, a parasite was named after the President.

Obama gets named after stuff that’s flushed down the toilet every minute of the day.
That reminds me of the photo op Gov Christie and 0 did right after Sandy wrecked the Jersey shore, them walking arm in arm along Point Pleasant beach. It looked like they were going to recreate the closing scene from Beach Blanket Bingo where Frankie Avalon embraces Annette Funicello and they kiss. All that was missing was the mermaid swimming around in the ocean. YUCK!!
Maybe Kenya has a beach somewhere...
Well if he wants to have his childhood home honor him, isn’t Hawaii in the wrong country?

High Five!
I have a portable can at a construction site we could name after him!
No problem with neighbors, they would see the connection!
Along with public restrooms they like for the same purpose..........
so many people here in Hawaii are now totally turned off to Obama . The fantasy has come to an end . For all but the farthest Obama-o-philes and aged socialists . Even the far Left anti-war anti-military Left hates him because he has come to represent the drone war on their subjects of sympathy , the worldwide radical muslims . I doubt that their is any chance that Hawaii will lobby for , or support a Obama presidential museum over here . Especially if we elect a R Governor this year and there is a chance of that. The only thing I am hearing mentioned now is the possibility of naming a hi-speed rail tram stop after him , has he has long been a proponent of that boondoggle .
He’s an embarrassment. Now that his butt buddy Abercrombie is gone , this would be a good time for the real details of his phony birth certificate to be released ,allowing the prosecutions for election fraud to begin .....
I forgot about that time the President saved a beached whale. Good times.
