At least 500 civilians who remain trapped in the Syrian Kurdish border town of Kobani are likely to be "massacred" if it falls to the Islamic State group, the U.N. envoy to Syria warned Friday, calling on the world to help avert a catastrophe as the extremists pushed deeper into the embattled town.
Staffan de Mistura raised the specter of some of the worst genocides of the 20th century during a news conference in Geneva, where he held up a map of the town along the Syria-Turkey border and said a U.N. analysis shows only a small corridor remains open for people to enter or flee Kobani.

or people of color.
Since the Kurds are also Sunni Muslims like ISIS, they can't play the we will convert over card.
I would expect they would be massacred for standing against ISIS and the Caliphate. -tom
why doesnt the UN put their little blue helmets and boots on the ground and take care of business if they are so concerned???
Why don’t UN troops go in there and save them?
Mebbie give ‘em some of them ooookie ‘gun’ thingies?
They PROTECT THEMSELVES??
Ever think of THAT??
Muzzie on Muzzie. I’m ok with that.
It's not just muslims in those towns.. These are Kurdish regions and Christians live there too.
The Kurds ARE Muslims. But Turkey would like to see them eradicated, and Obama was until recently, a lot more aligned with Erdogan than almost anyone else. He still is, in many ways: For example, the Turks want Assad to go, as does Obama, even though Assad is probably a necessary non-religious strong man necessary to hold the area together.
Why?
We have routinely armed one side only to have them turn on us later. We have no idea who we are arming.
ANY group of Muslims who gets the upper hand in the middle east will turn on the West and on other sects of Muslims who they don’t like for whatever reason.
This has been the pattern all along. Can’t we learn this yet?
This is an appeal to emotionalism to get us, once again, involved in middle east conflicts.
Christians are a teeny tiny minority in the region. They should know by now what they are up against. If they can’t figure this out, having lived there for centuries, then what makes you think we know who we are fighting?

They’re too busy “monitoring” or election process...
You make it sound as if these people are rolling the resources needed to exit the area. The Assad regimes didn’t harass or persecute them. This movement by ISIS is far faster than anyone expected. And they sure as hell didn’t expected the United States to arm, equip and train jihadis ostensibly to overthrown Assad. But I get it.. they’re just a small group of Christians. Screw ‘em, right?

Sorry, don’t care. They’re still rags.
I agree no weapons for muzzies period. Air support yes but our pilots.
And instead of importing all the muzzies we take the Christians. Then maybe we won’t have Americans beheaded by muzzy thugs or Ebola.
Interesting how you and Obama can be so unaffected by that.
