Warwicks police chief says a threat to elementary school students in three communities mentioned beheading.
Col. Steven McCartney tells WPRO-AM that the threat specified that beheading is planned. He called the nature of the threat targeting children in Warwick, Cranston and Johnston chilling.
There was a specific mention of elementary schools in this letter, the other thing which was the specific type of threat, which was beheading, is planned, McCartney told WPRO.
Johnston police received the anonymous threat by mail on Tuesday. Police say officers will be at every school in Johnston, Cranston and Warwick through Friday.
Several parents said theyll keep their children at home. McCartney says the schools may be the safest place to be.
The intent of the Warwick Police Department is to allow the education of the students to continue safely, McCartney told WPRO.
Cranston Supt. Judith Lundsten says recess will be canceled and students will not wait outside but will enter immediately.
Lt. Matthew Moynihan, a state police officer working for Cranston police, said authorities have not determined any validity to the threat.
Gun-free zones make perfect head-free zones.
“validity to the threat”?
You want to take that risk with YOUR kids?
By now Americans have learned not to trust the word of the authorities, the MSM or the schools... ever
Sounds like a threat from a Muslim. There I said it.
What will it finally take to wage war on these islamist savages the like of which we took to Germany and Japan?
They lust for the blood of our children.
They don’t usually threaten first, they just do it; don’t want to warn the victims, you know. I’d say it’s a prank, but a pretty ugly one.
“More than 40 percent of students were absent from school in Johnston on Wednesday, 39 were absent in Cranston and 30 percent were absent in Warwick. Absentee rates were higher at some elementary schools. More than half the students were gone at two elementary schools in Cranston.
Local police are working with state police, the FBI and postal inspectors to trace the letter.”

How do they know if its a credible threat if they have no clue where the letter came from?
For a start leaders with testicles, a population that has been de-programmed of 20+ years of how evil America is, and a press that reports news and not opinion masked as news.
You're talking about the much more courageous, united America of old. That America died. When they start beheading our children, it'll be on us to exact justice.
I went to Nayatt Elementary School in RI(in the late 60’s) We were having classes on the Civil War. Our teachers asked us to bring in relics we had at home. I brought my Grandfather’s war sword to class. Some other students brought Civil War pistols and rifles. Then we walked home after school.
We were in 3rd grade.
I’ve been saying for months... ISIS won’t bother conducting a 9/11-style attack on this country. They’ll concentrate on soft targets with helpless victims, i.e., schools.
And we still... amazingly and incredibly... refuse to guard our border.
It’s a heck of a challenge, which we can only hope and pray that we’re up for.
Diversity is our strength.
Well, I guess this is another example of an Islamic Adherent outside the perimeter of the religion of peace. This is so unlike a follower of Islam. /s
Then what?
Well my grandson attends one of the schools (kindergarten) under the threat. My daughter held him out of school yesterday. He went today, there was a heavy police presence both days both inside and outside the school He was very safe there today.
The note the terrorist sent is being examined for forensic clues hopefully they apprehend this sick sob.
For those with strong stomachs who are willing to remember:
