Kroger is the latest retailer in the cross-hairs of Moms Demand Action, a stridently anti-gun group funded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
But so far, the Cincinnati, Ohio-based grocery chain has not succumbed to the relentless assault of phone calls, text messages, petitions, emails and social media barbs tossed its way from the pressure group.
Costco, Starbucks, Target, Chipotle and Jack in the Box all have capitulated to the Moms demands by at least partially changing their policies on guns. The companies all announced they would ask or request that their customers not carry guns while shopping in their stores far from the actual bans that Moms Demand Action wanted.
Kroger, however, wouldnt even go that far.
Moms Demand Action had been pummeling Kroger since August with requests for a gun ban, including thinly veiled threats to stop shopping at the chain if it didnt bow to their wishes and disarm its customers, even those licensed to carry.

I wouldn’t give a hoot about retail establishments’ rules of carry or not.
What are they going to do? Sue you after you shoot the terrorist in their store?
That managers of many stores won’t even take the signatures.
I prolly would, walk to recycling barrel and drop them in.
Twitter is a buzz with this.
“I carry, because I care.”
K Marts long decline began well before internet shopping came on strong. It started when it bowed to Michael Moores anti gun demands.
Kinda. The real kick in the teeth would be to accept it and in plain view of the mda, dump it in the trash and tell them that’s what you think of their petition. But I know the uppers want the local managers to be polite and decline just so the mda’s don’t have any “ammo” to “target” the stores with. “Kroger stores don’t care about your children!” “Kroger stores want your children shot and killed in their stores!” Yeah, that sounds like something they might put out.
Write to Kroger and thank them for standing up for our rights. I did and received a very nice reply. This group is relentless - boycotting (which means weekends are free of screaming harpie liberals!) and constantly hitting them with demand letters. Please let Kroger know there are more of us who appreciate their stance - even if there isn’t a Kroger in your area -
I agree.
Don’t know if you Twitter, they are hysterical on there as thousands mock them, every time they put out a stupid stat.
Hundreds of people will send screen shoots from the FBI and CDC with their charts with info....making ALL of there arguments moronic.
It always gives me a laugh
Don’t these moms lookin’ for a little action need to run down to “whole foods” and pick up some gluten free foods? (Please no attacks about the benefits of GF foods.) I’m pretty sure they won’t find anybody CCW in the envirokids cereal aisle. :>}
Good for them.
I wish they had a store near me.
My first real job was in the Kroger Divisional office/warehouse in Madison, Wisconsin.
Learned alot & got a great kick-start for my life in accounting. I made a whole $52 a week for 40 hours. 1957.
Thank you, Kroger. Keep supporting the 2nd Amendment!!!
I'm not part of any organized effort to boycott libloving stores - I just can't bring myself to spend money in them. Since Target hopped on the gay marriage bandwagon a few months ago by filing some amicus brief, neither my wife nor I has set foot in a Target. Several times now we have driven 10 minutes further to shop at a Walmart. I'm sure we'll be back at Target eventually, but I just wish they'd shut up and stop telling me how I need to view the world.
I think Kroger is handling this exactly right. "We're a grocery store, our customers have all kinds of opinions, we'll sell pork chops to people on both sides of the issue, we're committed to following the local laws. Now get outta our store." Perfect.
Legally, what is the impact if a store “asks” me not to carry? Does it have the same effect as if I “ask” them to give me their merchandise at no charge?
One can ask, I suppose...
Well, you should, for more than one reason.
If the owner says no, it means NO. It's his store, you should not be able to dictate to him. No shirt, no shoes, a gun....it's HIS choice.
Better check your state and local regs. In many states, violation of posted prohibition is a FELONY. Don't give a hoot, huh?
It is the newest fad- moms against guns- they will move on when the next big thing comes along
CONGRATULATIONS TO KROGERS!!!! :) :) :)
There is one across the street from me. :)
