Boston City Council approved giving itself a nearly 23 percent pay raise on Wednesday, despite threats of a possible veto by Mayor Martin Walsh.
The council voted 9-4 to raise its annual pay from $87,500 to $107,500, a $20,000 increase, effective January 2016. [ ]
Boston City Council salaries already exceed those in other New England cities; only Cambridge councilors, who earn $73,362, come close, according to a 2013 Boston city survey.

Must be nice to be a rat and play with other peoples money... knowing full well the lemmings will complain then vote for you again and again.
Wish I could give myself a raise.
Like pigs to the trough.
Personally, I think the “shelter-in-place” uLEO’s deserve as much of a pay raise for their outstanding post-marathon manhunt. Boston proud.
The people get the government they deserve.
oh those people get their Govt, but then the idiots move down here and vote for the same Govt , thus changing how we live and demanding we change to their views.
Typical of these locusts
wow, and i’m in the wrong profession... we get 0-2% a year...
I gave myself a hefty raise and was finally getting to live like I deserve, when suddenly after a few weeks, someone pointed out that I am a sole proprietor and that there were no funds to pay for the raise, I was really bummed.
I should have gone into government.
Add to that all the graft they get from liquor store owners and waterfront property developers and you’ve got a pretty comfortable living there with no heavy lifting!
knowing full well the lemmings will complain then vote for you again and again.
That’s what they do. If obama could run 5 or 6 times numbskulls would vote him back in again!!! It must be a deep self hate thing.
And those new salaries are not counting all the contributions and benefits that are showered on the holders of those offices. Sort of like Christmas for the term of office.
You just gotta love the statement “...despite threats of a possible veto by Mayor Martin Walsh.”
Hello??? Like he was really, really, really going to get mad and veto it.
Oops, he got a raise too!
