A motorist who has the number plates I5I5 will return them to VicRoads after suffering horrific abuse by other drivers.
Rob, who drives a Landcruiser with black tinted windows, told Neil Mitchell of the terror he has faced on the road and admits the number plate looks like it says ISIS.
“They sat in storage and six months ago I decided to put I5 on… when people started abusing me and trying to run me off the road, I figured something was wrong,” he said.
After purchasing the plates 12 years ago as part of a series - I3, I4, I5 and I6 - he said he can’t wait to give them back.
“(ISIS is) not something we want to promote... when I get a moment I’ll be driving into Vic Roads and…I’ll be very happy to hand them back and Vic Roads can put them through the shredder.”

the whole world is in a rage over isis...cept here in the good ol US of A.....someone has to keep up with the Kardasians..........
Probably a wise move.Sounds a bit like what the Top Gear guys recently experienced in Argentina.Of course Australia is an advanced,civilized country and Argentina’s a banana republic...so I’m not painting Oz with the same brush!

Lots of stupid people in this world. I’m reminded of a story a few weeks back where some outraged soccer mom type demanded a clothing company discontinue it’s “Isis” line of clothing”, not realizing it was a long-standing line named after the ancient Egyptian goddess, and not the newly minted terrorist group.
I’d probably change my plates too, though, if I was this guy. Not worth some bonehead trying to run you off the road.

Reminds me of when innocent Indians and others suffered after 9/11 because they “looked like” muslims.
