I just did and here's one of those things I get:

In Kansas, Brownback tried a red-state ‘experiment.’ Now he may be paying a political price

EXCERPT:

"As he runs for reelection, Brownback is finding that what he once called a “real live experiment” in red-state governance is struggling to produce the benefits he had promised, spurring an increasingly competitive gubernatorial race against state House Minority Leader Paul Davis (D). His troubles also provide a case study of what can happen when single-party control — now the norm in most states — combines with the sharp rightward shift of the Republican Party."

So, it looks like less spending, less taxes, a sound fiscal condition and a leaner government don't resonate with Kansans after all.... and I thought they were a red state.

I guess its how you want to read the article. I read the article you linked to:

"hefty tax cut for the rich that deprived schools"

"$300 million revenue shortfall"

"Kansas's credit rating downgraded"

"policies driven by ideology"

Brownback's policies have deepened a split within the Kansas GOP

"I don't like being experimented on"

Well, I guess even red staters don’t like smaller government, tax cuts ( which will ALWAYS benefit those who have more money <— of course, these are also those who created that jobs that made unemployment rate fall below 5% ), and even equate more money to schools with better education.

Kansas is a red state only in the sense that we vote for Republicans in national level races. At the local and state level, the picture is very mixed. Then factor in the liberals who still belong to the Republican party, and a much different picture emerges.

The good news is that Brownback has done a great deal to get rid of liberals in state government and to implement sound conservative policies. The liberals are attacking him with all that they have got. In the Senate race, the Democrat strategy is to pretend that they are not Democrats. This is not an accident. Many liberals in Kansas will never vote for Democrats, but they will vote for a liberal Republican or an “Independent”.

There are many here on Free Republic whose political insights are limited to simple Wikipedia searches, but they think that they are experts and rail out at anyone who challenges them. The press does the same thing. They go to Google or Wikipedia and declare themselves to be political geniuses. Political behavior is difficult to boil down to a twitter note, but that’s become the level of debate here at FR.

The internals of this poll are bizarre, if I am reading them correctly:

http://maristpoll.marist.edu/wp-content/misc/KSpolls/KS140927/Complete%20October%202014%20Kansas%20NBC%20News__Marist%20Poll%20Tables.pdf#page=2

only 34% of the LIKELY voters in November are Republican? Bull Crap.

Republicans are motivated to vote.....and by a larger margin than 1/3 of the voters.

I agree. They are purging conservatives, because everyone in their Washington circle tells them that the pathway to popularity and election is by behaving more like a Democrat. I don’t think that this is true, but it doesn’t matter, they do. So, the challenge is how to change their beliefs and their behavior.

The vitriol toward Gov Brownback is, in large part, due to his signing an education bill that included tenure reform, alternative certification, and tax credits for school choice scholarships for low income students. The teacher’s union has continuously bombarded parents with misinformation causing them to believe that Brownback has also cut school funding, which is completely untrue. School spending dropped when the federal stimulus money ended, prior to Brownback taking office. He has shored up the public employee/teacher’s retirement system which was made insolvent under the previous Democrat Governors’ tenure, but gets no credit for that. In addition, he has drastically reduced the numbers of public employees while making state government more efficient and effective. Bottom line, he has dared to touch the domain of the teacher’s and public employees’ unions. The Kansas media is full court press for the Democrat candidate Davis. Not pretty.

Brownback was pro amnesty in the Senate in 2007. SoS Kobach, who is the face of the keeping the Dem on the ballot, is the strongest candidate ever on immigration. Roberts has never voted for amnesty. Palin and Ingraham to attack are going to Kansas to attack Orman on amnesty.

Most people are LIV. They don’t have a clue about the structure of Washington D.C. or how it works. Our school system has failed! However, most everyone has a computer and can do independent research. I guess that’s too much trouble though. It might interfere with their love for what is going on in Hollyweird and with Reality TV.

The Free Republic friends of the democrat party.

Absolutely right!

That would be all who cast a vote that, in the end, improves Harry Reid's chances of remaining Senate Majority Leader in 2015, plus all who forget to vote.

It sounds like Kansas is going through Wisconsin’s RAT extermination, and the rats are fighting back.

The money will roll in right before early voting starts, and get people’s heads right, I’m hoping. Is Kansas attracting job-creators?

Exactly right!

Sam Brownback has been enjoying a measure of success cleaning up Kansas government, and that annoys the 'Rats big time. It's the trend, you know.

Governor Brownback cut the state income tax from 6.45% to 3.9% and exempted pass-thru income altogether. The 'tards fear such policies may actually work.

Respondents in the household were selected by asking for the youngest male

Crazy stuff, trying to find the youngest male and since younger people tend to be more liberal, tells me they are trying to get the results they want.

After observing local comment sections and message boards and seeing the same tired old liberal talking points, from the same commentors, about these races, and given all the stops the left has pulled out to try to win these races, it wouldn't surprise me if a huge leftist astro turf campaign is going on here in this state, including the local medias. I have no doubt that is how they got Sebelius elected. I just hope people don't fall for it this time.

I also have no doubt these polls, since they are trying to get the results they want, are meant to suppress the conservative vote. I can tell you it won't in my family and circle of friends.

No doubt, we just can’t believe anything the left puts out these days concerning these races. They are trying to pull out all the stops.

It wouldn’t surprise me if these are the people that have taken to comments sections, message boards, and other social media, trying to change public opinion here. It may have worked with Sebelius but I hope my fellow Kansans are smarter this go round and see through the crap.
