he U.S. Embassy in Moscow has voiced regret about Russia's decision to cancel its participation in a major high school student exchange program.

U.S. Ambassador John F. Tefft said in a statement that the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program has brought more than 8,000 Russian high school students to the United States to live with American families, attend high school and experience community life.

Tefft added "we deeply regret this decision by the Russian government to end a program that for 21 years has built deep and strong connections between the people of Russia and the United States."

Russia said Wednesday it had halted the program after one of its students had failed to return home. The move comes amid serious strains in U.S.-Russian ties over Russia's actions in Ukraine.

What the State Dept. and ABC News doesn't tell you is that Russian children with parents in Russia are "adopted" out to US adults including homosexuals without permission of the Russian parents or Russian courts.

“Russia’s decision to cancel its participation in a major high school student exchange program.”

Putin was quoted as saying: “We don’t mind communist indoctrination, but when we get our students back fromthe United States we have to send them to sibera with a copy of Atlas Shrugged for a year in order to get them back to proper level of socialism.”

The straight scoop:

High school students from former USSR countries go to US for one academic year to live in an ‘ordinary’ middle-class American host family and to study in a high school.

Russian Children's Ombudsman Pavel Astakhov points out that it is not clear if a Russian pupil who went to America would return to his mother back in Russia, as he had been ‘adopted’ by a gay couple.

Astakhov notes that what happened conflicts with the standards of the program. There were no legal grounds for the adoption.

Heck, forget the Russians, that’s happening to Americans! Woman has her fag husband leave her and steal her child!

The Russians are smart not to let their kids arrive at the liberal indoctrination camps that are now full of ebola contaminated illegals!

This is horrific. A child has been KIDNAPPED during an exchange program with the consent of our sick government, by two pedophiles! Imagine if this happened in reverse, in any country around the world!

Time for a spetsnaz strike on these two deviants to retrieve the child, leave them both in buckets

Gay couples are hosting foreign exchange students? All countries should halt participation.

Apparently, about 8000 students from Russia - Eastern European states have participated, but I can't seem to find reciprocal numbers.

However in searching to answer your question, I stumbled on this: ASSESSMENT OF THE FUTURE LEADERS EXCHANGE PROGRAM which gives a few numbers, but let's the cat out of the bag: FLEX is an indoctrination program to indoctrinate Western "values" into Russia - Eastern European students.

To be honest I think it is a loss.
I personally know many people who took part in a program and for most of them it was a unique cultural experience to learn America not through a US foreign policymakers or Russian propaganda. Some spent time with decent conservative families, it certainly left a positive mark and affected the way they are living their lives in a good way. For others it was very different, some are tools now involved in various subversive NGOs, but I think it is an exception.
I actually regret I was too busy and couldn’t find time to participate as a teen.
And yes, American teens were living in Russia too. I’m not sure if we are talking about that same or any other programs but there was exchange as well.
