Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says she was saddened and "very angry" with the man who carried Ebola from Monrovia to Dallas.

Sirleaf was speaking Thursday in an exclusive interview with CBC News senior correspondent Adrienne Arsenault.

"With the U.S. doing so much to help us fight Ebola, and again one of our compatriots didn't take due care, and so, he's gone there and … put some Americans in a state of fear, and put them at some risk, and so I feel very saddened by that and very angry with him, to tell you the truth."

Sirleaf also disclosed that the man, identified in U.S. reports as Thomas E. Duncan, worked in the private sector with courier company DHL.

She said the man had passed temperature tests, and "some very stringent and very precautionary measures" at the Monrovia airport.

"But the fact that he knew [he was exposed to the virus] and he left the country is unpardonable, quite frankly," she added. "I just hope that nobody else gets infected."

She suggested she'll have to consult lawyers to decide what to do with the man when he returns home......

Ebola Thomas... Typhoid Mary couldn't have done any better than this dude. Knowing he was infected, leaving the country, avoiding authorities. Mr. Duncan has some explaining to do.

He won’t answer a question even. In fact, when asked for whom is going to pay for these treatments he will say, you put me in the hospital, you pay.

That’s just what I was gonna say GraceG. Sounds like she is a lot more sincere than that creature we’ve got skulking around.

With the U.S. doing so much to help us fight Ebola...

Is it just me, or is this the first time in living memory that a head of state actually pointed out that the US was helping their country's people?

If the guy survives, he will lawyer up in the US to avoid returning to Liberia. Apply for political asylum with State Dept, claim political persecution in Liberia, interviews on CNN, endless media attention, instant celebrity status.

So, if he lives, will President Obola grant him asylum because he fears prosecution if he returns to Liberia?

Thanks for the reminder. I guess he’s become my new normal. Pretty sad when we I’m admiring and longing for African leadership.

I wouldn't go to the airport in Monrovia and start waiting for him. He came to the US to get free treatment for ebola and then apply for refugee status, or wait for Obama's grand amnesty.

Thank goodness it’s her and not Charles Taylor.

He would have taken all of the gold and fled.

Who paid for the man’s ticket? Could it be some rich guy named Al Baghdadi? Is he a convert to Islam?

How did this Liberian afford to fly to Texas? Do think he was a plant paid for by ISIS? Bio Terrorism?

Liberia’s president is a black lady who’s a Harvard graduate and has won a Nobel peace prize. Even the PC elites couldn’t claim we’d lose anything in the trade!
