George W. Bush: Jeb 'wants' presidency
The Hill ^ | October 2, 2014 | Cameron Joseph

Posted on 10/02/2014 7:23:11 AM PDT by maggief

Former President George W. Bush said Thursday that thinks his brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), wants to be president.

"I think he wants to be president, I think he'd be a great president. He understands what it's like to be president," Bush said in a Fox News interview. "He's seen his dad, he's seen his brother. He's a very thoughtful man and he’s weighing his options." The Bush brothers met in Dallas on Wednesday, and the former president said he was "pushing" his brother to run.

"He, of course, was saying 'I haven’t made up my mind,' and I truly don't think he has," he said. "I don't think he liked it that his older brother was pushing him."

Jeb Bush has long been seen as a White House contender in 2016. Big donors in the GOP establishment have pined for him to run, as has Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

But Jeb Bush could face opposition from grassroots conservatives who oppose his views on immigration and support for Common Core education reforms.

No. We don’t need another open-borders guy.

I liked GW on a personal level, and at one time I thought Jeb would be a fine president. But his position on the border, his hostility to conservatives, have become evident over the years.

So, no. Thanks, no.

When Terri Schiavo announces herself as his running mate, he’ll have my vote.

Jeb Bush, Christie, Rubio, and Romney are completely unacceptable. We need a conservative, not another RINO.

Jeb might want the presidency, but conservatives don't want him.

Funny you should say that. When that happened, thats when the shine went off of him in my eyes.

Later, when he attacked Jan Brewer, it confirmed things to me at least.

NO!! A thousand times - NO! Like another poster, I once thought he had potential and have been forced to reconsider. He needs to listen to his mother and her advice.

The US needs to mark the end of political dynasties of every stripe, IMO.

Twelve years of Bush presidencies in the past quarter-century. We’ve had enough. Step away from the campaign, Jeb. You’re not going to attract democrat votes and conservative voters won’t support you. You have no chance of winning.

How entitled! This is the new royalty, Bush, Clinton, and the entrenched Congress.

I find it really hard to believe that a country that is so clearly fed-up with the status quo would elect another Bush or Clinton.

I agree. He’s wrong on so many levels. When Terri died, Jeb’s camouflage fell off.

Yup, his dad, George “wanted” to be vice-president but Nixon chose Gerald Ford. Then he “wanted” to be vice-president but Gerald Ford chose Nelson Rockefeller. Then he “wanted” to be vice-president but Gerald Ford chose Bob Dole. Then he wanted to be president but the republicans chose Ronald Reagan. But he finally got to be vice-president. Then he wanted to be president again and won, then lost. Then his son wanted to be president. Now his other son wants to be president.

Frankly, I’m sick of the Bush family “wanting” things!

Gee, we were just remarking this morning how Mr. Shrub has kept his mouth shut this election cycle.

Now he starts the talking game to promote another family member so they can make it a hereditary monarchy.

Hey Jebby....where’s Terri, you coward?
