How big is the homegrown ISIS threat?

The European Union’s Anti-Terrorism Chief Gilles de Kerchove told the BBC Friday that the number of Islamic State fighters from Europe is "probably above 3.000, which is unprecedented."

That statement prompted a number of sensational headlines - especially in Britain, where the Parliament voted Friday to join the airstrikes against ISIS.

But 3,000 Islamic State fighters is probably an inflated figure. Mr. de Kerchove himself qualifies that total saying 3,000 includes all those who have been to the region, including those who have returned and those who have been killed there.

The European jihadis threat assessment includes the dead? Out of those estimated 3,000, how many of those European ISIS jihadis are still alive?

If Europeans are trying to assess the long-term risk of the ISIS campaign becoming a domestic terror threat, this is a relevant number. And what's the breakdown on those IS fighters who are already back in Europe vs. those still in the Middle East?

In the US, the ISIS threat suddenly got smaller this week.

Let’s say that there are only a couple hundred individuals. Lets say that, of that couple of hundred, fifty decide to coordinate an attack across Europe.

You can still be talking easily enough a few hundred thousand dead Europeans.

Curious how many of these so called Europeans are actually native Europeans, and, or assimilated Europeans. I’d bet not many of them.

I believe mostly the numbers reflect muslim immigrants to the continent that never assimilated to their new homeland, and never intended to do so.

Not one should be allowed to return.

You're probably right. A couple of weeks ago, there was a story of a couple of very hot and western looking Austrian chicks running off to join ISIS. However, their names were not so Austrian. And it turned out they were actually Bosnian immigrants. Bosnians are European racially but worship the Moon God.

However, the Oklahoma beheader claimed on his Facebook page to have converted this guy to Islam last May 30th:

"One whom was Guided to Islam 2day I offered him Dawah [missionary work for Islam] and he took his shahada [the Muslim profession of faith]!"

Europe flushed their toilet and 3,000 Muslim turds went down the drain and ended up in the ME. Now, just don’t let a one of them come back unless they want to be tried, found guilty and executed.
