Mary Burke caught in lies again. It’s worth reading the whole article at the link.

“Guess which one she’s taking?”

And guess which one she be losing, once the People’s Republic of Minnesota finds its budget situation untenable?

If his daughter’s job prospects are so important to him, tell him to get his kids into something that doesn’t make a living off other people’s taxes.

And by the way, the crop of teachers from the UW system are statistically from the bottom 20% of their graduating class. They choose teaching because the bottom 20% of their class can’t do much else, get summers off, all the holidays, and full retirement and healthcare in 20.

Heard on Mark Belling’s show (Friday?) that Burke had agreed to quit telling the Neenah story.

Mary Burke needs to review her Alinsky Method for demonizing her opponent with lies. Of course we know that lies instead of facts just don’t cut it.

Alinsky Rule 10: “If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counter-side... every positive has its negative.”

In other words, if you push the other side far enough to create a negative (e.g. violent reaction), you will score points with public sympathy.

Counter Strategy
-
Fight fire with water. Douse the argument with a cold splash of facts. Cite credible sources and avoid the histrionics the other side is using and hoping for you to respond with. Their histrionics are contrived, yours is apt to be emotional and blunderous. But remember, all politics is theater. So one important thing to remember though, by being rationale and calm, you don’t want to come across as cold. You want to come across as personable and someone to whom the audience can relate.

Point their argument out for what it is - melodramatic tripe. If they cite facts ask them to provide references for the facts. Don’t allow them to side-step the question with a dismissal. Make them answer it. But be empathetic not confrontational.

It is often the case that public school teachers/administrators equate their own welfare (pay, benefits, etc) to how well their schools are doing. They tend to mention the welfare of their students only in passing. Quality of education should be their first priority.
