"....like the young high school coed I watched skewer an unctuous college professor some years ago.
The setting is the Town of Rosendale, New York Recreation Center on July Fourth weekend where several dozen families have come to picnic together in the shade of the big pavilion.
The afternoon sun is low in the sky, my children winding down in the pool, and Im visiting other tables. Around one I find the husband of an acquaintance has captured an audience. Hes a tenured college professor at the State University at New Paltz whom Ill call Dren Dravrah, PhD. A man who after snoggling up most of the expensive stuffed mushrooms his wifes sister brought, decided that the rest of the people gathered at his table would like nothing better than to end the afternoon by listening to one of his lectures."

Why does the author refer to a single person as a “coed”? It sounds really dumb
The American public education system started its transition to Marxist based philosophy almost 100 years ago. It is a relentless and so far very successful program. Now, full into it the chief administrators and tenured faculty are in total control of who gets hired and who gets tenure or fired. The little ‘heads full of mush’ have a very slim chance of exiting such a system with any semblance of the old American ethos. Sorry to say it but it was our own indifference that let it happen. (Being at war or in a protracted financial crisis during the entire period didn’t help much either.)
LOL! I guess he somehow couldn’t say young lady. Just reportin’ not writin’.
what is wrong with “student”?
As a whole, very few Americans were slave holders. The majority of those that were - were southern democrats.
Because thats how people used to refer to female college students, and Richard Miniter is an older gentleman.
I take that back, Miniter isn’t very old at all.
I guess it could have been worse, he could have called her a skirt, a broad, a dame, a gal or something.
Nikita Khrushchev would be proud of this and most professors in America’s institutions of learning, he promised in 1962 (there about) “we will destroy you from within”, these professors, responded to the call and have ever since been incredibly successful.
We The People have failed to guard against his threat, as if he was joking, we continue to fail too guard against ever increasing threats from those who follow Krushcsev’s example, it is working over and over again, when will we ever learn.
The founders of the kkk?
‘young chick with nice stems’? Yeah, he could have done worse.
Coed is one of those terms, like oriental, that people just decided was offensive. Simply because it was coined by someone other than the type it is used to describe, I guess.
no, no, no, you dont understand. The American Civil War was about the clash of money interests not slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation was a sham. Lincoln himself a dyed in the wool racist .
This guy sounds like a lot of the Confederate apologists here...
Because when someone uses the word coed you immediately know it is a single female student of a certain age.
It doesn’t really make any sense. A male student is also technically coed right?
This girl was in high school, I guess soon it’ll refer to kindergarten too.
Since 60% of college students are female it doesn’t make sense today.
“It doesnt really make any sense. A male student is also technically coed right?”

No. When used as a noun it’s a female student.
.
I went to college with Rich back in 1986-1990 or so. He’s a good guy, about my age: 45-46 or so.
