Wary of air strikes, Islamic State insurgents change tactics

Islamic State militants are changing tactics in the face of U.S. air strikes in northern Iraq, ditching conspicuous convoys in favor of motorcycles and planting their black flags on civilian homes, tribal sources and eyewitnesses say.

They reported fewer militant checkpoints to weed out "apostates" and less cell phone use since the air strikes intensified and more U.S. allies pledged to join the campaign that began in August, saying the militants had also split up to limit casualties.

A tribal sheikh from a village south of Kirkuk said Islamic State elements "abandoned one of their biggest headquarters in the village" when they heard the air strike campaign was likely to target their area.

"They took all their furniture, vehicles and weapons. Then they planted roadside bombs and destroyed the headquarters," said the tribal sheikh who declined to be named.

"They don't move in military convoys like before. Instead they use motorcycles, bicycles, and if necessary, they use camouflaged cars," he said.

The militants have also taken to erecting their notorious black flag on the rooftops of several mostly empty residential houses and buildings, to create confusion about their actual presence.

None of this should be taken as weakening...just adaptation to the tactical environment.

That is why the air strikes should have been launched months ago with no public debate and no warning. They could have wiped out half of them. Idiots.

Even the present strikes are just taking out empty buildings. No one is getting killed. They’re still there in full force. They intermingled with the locals months ago.

This is why troops are supposed to follow fire support. Their job is rolling up the enemy while that enemy is hurt and disorganized.

Obama made sure that his Muslim friends had plenty of time to prepare and adjust their tactics.

Tuco’s law. They have been talking for months instead of shooting.

step up attacks to include the A-10s, Spookies for serious hurt, and for some serious rototilling B-52s. Also one or two MOABS on suspected concentrations as an exclamation point

Obama in his speeches keeps telling them that he has their 6 and not to worry. Nothing serious will happen to them. A few replaceable items will be destroyed and a lot of rhetoric will be fired out but little else of consequence to worry about. The Muzzies stick together.

PT, your president is a muslim. Do you think he really wants to kill his coreligionists?

The enemy was tipped off to the airstrikes. The strikes took place at night when no one would get hurt.

This is all for show.

“For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.” Exekial 30:3

“That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,” Zephaniah 1:15

“A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: . . “ Joel 2:2

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10

“And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.” Revelation 6:14

But of course our CIC, military genius that he is, says that's not necessary...

He is a secular Marxist not a practicing Muslim IMO. But that is really irrelevant. What we DO know is he was raised a Muslim and sides with them against christians and jews. That much is fact.

So I agree. Obama went out of his way to let ISIS get established. The traitor has no interest in doing them any real harm. If it wasn’t for the kurd slaughter and beheadings he would do nothing. But he is using this to take out Assad

Wag the Dog - See me the president I am doing something about the ISIS problem and believe me it is working (just to inflame ISIS I mean ISIL to do more harm). But truly the American people will see that I am achieving so much to protect them from themselves (opps I mean ISIL). This is president barack obama and I have a pen and a phone. I can call in strikes anywhere in the world to defeat ISIL ( i truly mean Christians and Jews)

Wherever the black flag is seen, bomb. If you are a citizen there, when you weigh defying the planting of the black flag on your home versus the wrath of American air power, it should be the former without a second thought.
