MSP to ATL goes right through Chicago ARTCC airspace. When it is down, centers in KC, DEN, MSP, CLE assume control on chunks of it. This is very unusual, does not work well, and should only allow for high priority flights into that airspace.
I am guessing your flight will not be in that category, so buy a book or two. I hear MSP is nice in the fall, enjoy it.
Your flight will most likely stay on the ground until Chicago ARTCC is back in operation.

A 'fire' in the basement of an Air Traffic Control facility.
And the man around the 'fire' stabs himself repeatedly.
And the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives shows up first.
Nope. Definitely no terrorism here. Rule that one out right away.

However, one of the first things out of the spokesmans mouth was something about how this is NOT terrorism. I almost came out of my chair. Why do they always say that?Because nothing is terrorism.
Especially terrorism.
If 9/11 happened under Obama, the newspeople and spokesmen would go before cameras and declare the event as 'evidence of a shoddy Air Traffic Control system'.
Then they would blame Reagan for firing the striking ATC workers in 1980.
And then they would demand 1 trillion dollars to overhaul the ATC system.

I read that it was done by an employee who was upset about a transfer, so he went to the basement and doused the cables with gasoline after first trying to cut them. I don’t think it was an Islamist, just a nutcase employee.

Crazy is every where now I guess. I am a guard. We limit access to sensitive areas.

This is what I read elsewhere and it may not be the full story, but at the moment, it doesn’t sound as if he had any ideological motivations but was genuinely just a case of “workplace violence.” Unlike the guy in OK who beheaded a coworker and it turned out he had been trying to convert them all to Islam ...

I arrived in ATL 20 minutes early and waiting to jump the puddle into Mexico... Delta Air Lines had no problem avoiding Bathhouse Barry’s city...
