DENVER - Hundreds of high school students in Colorado´s second-largest school district staged a walkout on Wednesday to protest proposed changes to a history curriculum that would stress patriotism and discourage civil disobedience. Student protesters marched outside schools waving placards bearing slogans such as: "My School, My Education, My Voice!" and "Don´t Make History a Mystery!" The demonstrations marked the third straight day of protests at six high schools in Jefferson County, a suburban Denver school district of 84,000 students. The controversy stems from proposed changes to an advanced placement history curriculum proposed by a school board member who was

Not a word about the role of the teachers and their criminal union, the motive force behind this student "walkout", in this story.

Just more lies & propaganda from Rooters.

"Materials should not encourage or condone civil disorder, social strife or disregard for the law. Instructional materials should present positive aspects of the United States and its heritage," according to the proposal from board member Julie Williams.

Actually, pretty stupidly worded and asking for trouble. Why not just "teach the lives of the founders and understand the American Revolution and its founding documents".

Or something like that. Stress AMERICAN HISTORY.

It doesn't seem like anybody is doing that. Not even this conservative, who probably means well but has diverted attention from AMERICAN HISTORY to something else.

Foolish my rear, everyone is so afraid to say anything. The liberals aren’t afraid to teach your kids this is a racist hellhole and they should burn the place down.

So, let me get this straight...
The voters in those counties voted for this change in the curriculum.
The teachers didn’t like the change. They wanted to keep on teaching the Howard Zinn/Saul Alinsky versions, and the voters overruled that.
Friday, the disgruntled teachers had a, “Sick-Out,” in protest.
This week after, these kids are free to ditch school in protest.

Morons on FB are screaming, “This is a beautiful representation of democracy in action!”
Yet are totally oblivious to the irony that this, “Beauty,” is counter to the democracy that already happened when those votes were cast?

Did I leave anything out, or would that about cover it?

I believe in back to basics. There are young people walking around who don’t know who George Washington is. I kid you not.

If they decided to teach that George Washington was a Marxist they would cheer instead. They don’t want real history, they want only the history they agree with.

Worse. The only thing they know about him is that he owned slaves.

The whole issue of slavery is so mis-taught that it feeds right in to the cultivated stupidity of the liberal masses.

Rebels without a clue.

That's the sum of it, really. Most of the kids now don't really originate a cause, they just jump on one because they've been indoctrinated in the leftist indoctrination system that that's what you do. The left tells them what to oppose, they oppose it, like good little sheep. They are so conformist really, if they only could realise it.

Getting rid of the proposed APUSH curriculum is an excellent idea.

Here’s another idea: Why not teach American History as it happened, warts and all? If they need reference materials, any American History text book from the late fifties to the early seventies would do fine.

American History should not be shaded one way or another. Teach it like it happened.

No-doubt a teacher-led protest, but the media is presenting it as a spontaneous student walk-out, as if the high schoolers participating care about anything other than an excuse to get out of class for a day.

There was a protest yesterday at the High School my children attended, my last one graduated last year. I don’t get it, these kids are being used. Every kid there knows exactly how it obtain any kind of information they want, it’s called your local library or the internet. I used to be an assistant teacher, but I left after seeing where they were headed.

I’m hoping they are more of this and will grow out of it.....

We were wanna be rebels who didn’t have a clue
With our Rock n’ roll T-shirts, and our typically bad attitudes
Had no excuses for the things that we’d done
We were brave, we were crazy, we were mostly
