Pro-ISIS fighters in Algeria released a video today of a hostage who was kidnapped this weekend.
The hostage delivered a message to President Francois Hollande:
“I am in the hands of Jund al-Khilifa, an Algerian armed group. This armed group is asking me to ask you (President Francois Hollande) to not intervene in Iraq. They are holding me as a hostage and I ask you Mr President to do everything to get me out of this bad situation and I thank you.”
The pro-ISIS group gave France twenty-four hours to stop “the aggression against ISIL” or they will behead their hostage.

Ok note to all who travel to Muslim countries: you are likely to be kidnapped and decapitated. Good luck and no, we wont be negotiating with them.

They do this under orders. TPTB need to stir up the hornet's nest of resentment and anger among the victim's countrymen (US, UK and France so far) in order to have the emotional momentum to launch World War 3 when the time comes.

Suggestion to travelers: Avoid moozlum countries for the time being...unless, of course, you want the last thing that you see to be your head rolling down the street.
France should carpet-bomb them in reply. I would love to see France overcome it’s cheese-eating surrender-monkey status.

Excellent point in your post #3. In addition,it only incentivizes more kidnappings and beheadings. Sad for the victims; however, I understand, for them, their wish to survive trumps all.
How is it counter-productive? Every time they do this, it instills fear in Westerners and makes the Muslim nutbags in the ME feel powerful and in control. I don’t see how it’s counterproductive at all.

It doesn’t say what Herve Groundel was doing there, that is why he had arrived there just a couple of days ago. Was he a reporter or an aid worker or an official of some sort?
Bottom line, traveling to the middle east, unless you’re military is beyond insane. Plenty of aid work to be done here in the States and in western Europe.
