Prosecutors From Across the Country Form “Anti Gun Violence Coalition”

Prosecutors across the nation have formed a coalition which they say is meant to reduce “gun violence”.

The prosecutors from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Seattle, Miami, Houston and Milwaukee will join together to cut down on gang violence using guns, domestic violence involving firearms and the mentally ill accessing firearms.

According to a press release put out by the group today,

Based on the article, it could just as easily been called an “Anti Gang Violence Coalition” but they want to demonize firearms more than they want to demonize gangs.

(Since residents of their cities have much lower firearm ownership rates than the surrounding suburban and rural areas, maybe it's some other variable that's responsible for the problem? Oh, but their voters might get hurty feelers if we talked about that.)

How many dollars did they obtain for themselves in the formation of this group? How many conferences will they hold to end gun violence this winter in Vegas, the Bahamas, or Puerto Rico? Next summer in Bangor Maine, Portland Oregon, or Martha's Vineyard?

A wise move. Just because they are "prosecutors" doesn't guarantee that these people can be trusted. Prosecutors are bureaucrats and political animals first.

Law-abiding gun owners will be targeted for “having mental health issues” when a visit to the psychiatrist gets reported to the government.

Already happening in states that require a firearms owner I.D. card. Revoke someone’s FOID for reasons of mental health, the po-po come & take the guns away.

The obvious problem with barring the "mentally ill" is when they lower the bar for what constitutes mental illness.
