What those recruits willingly submit in that exchange is shameful to and makes enemies of all who knew them before because 1) of ISIS' slaughter of non-ISIS adherents, 2) promotion of homosexuality, 3) the recruit choosing the homosexuality implicitly signals weakness and a slave mentality, and 3) choosing to become one of those vile, evil ISIS members that will further the cycle of killing and homosexuality of moral resisters, making it more difficult for their old friends (and new enemies) to resist ISIS and all the evil they represent.
Through the recruits' display of choosing to submit to evil, their pasts have been utterly trashed and their future lives have been purchased at price that cannot be reversed. What a fearsome brew!
It's just the kind of perverse anti-Gospel that only a daemon could enjoy! To be able to live with new selves, they must cast off morality and old friends.
Successful domination over others in a pyramid scheme-fashion is the only fearsome (think "compensating"), "positive" thing to which they can look forward.
