Sir Sean Connery's tax exile status keeps him away from independence debate, says brother
UK Telegraph ^ | September 16, 2014 | Auslan Cramb

Sir Sean Connery, the SNP’s most famous supporter, is not planning to make a last-minute appearance for the Yes campaign because of his tax exile status, according to his brother. There has been speculation that the 84-year-old actor, who lives in the Bahamas, could make a morale-boosting intervention for the Yes camp at the 11th hour. But his younger brother Neil, 76, speaking in Edinburgh, said: “There's only a certain amount of days Sean can be in the country for tax reasons, so I know that he intends to use them wisely."

I guess Sir Sean not interested in paying the taxes "necessary" to make Scotland a fair and equal society. If he gets his wish given the socialist attitudes of the SNP he might never go back.

One of my favorite actors ever, but were I in Scotland, I’d tell him to stay home, in the Bahamas.

Does he still have a house in Scotland?

Is Connery liberal and supportive of high taxes and socialism?

If so he should be called out for rank hypocrisy. He is a tax exile?, really? He has made millions but doesn’t want to share the wealth? To paraphrase Obama, he is unpatriotic if he has moved his domicile and business affairs to another country to avoid taxes in his own country.

What is the per capita GDP of Scotts vs. England? Do they have a diverse economy with industrial capacity, agriculture, research and development, engineers, finance, and retail? The major benefit of a United Kingdom is the shared benefit of specialized output of the product/s and services best realized from one region or territory over another, and then sharing in the higher yields.

I really don't know enough about what Scotland has in the way of resources to produce in terms of raw materials and talent?

Perhaps he’s a “tax exile” because he is tired of seeing his taxes peed away on various welfare handouts, not only to locals, but to the new Muslim colonizers.

I don’t fault him for that (not that he cares one way or the other about what I think).

And a few hundred ICBM's. They knit a good wool sweater, have good breeding stock for lambs, have farmland which grows rocks faster than wheat, some undeveloped commercial fishing potential, and a pinache for feudalism.

I'm not so sure it would be a good thing for the average citizen?

I believe Connery is relatively conservative. I can recall him calling “feminazis” fascists, as they had a tendency to protest his appearances because of their perverted view that his portrayal of James Bond somehow diminished womynkind for all eternity.

Connery has long been a supporter of the Scottish National Party, and of its leader, the left-wing Alex Salmond.

Out of all the Bond actors, Sir Roger Moore is the most conservative.

Nope. Not since the early 70s at least, if not the 60’s. In fact, I am not sure he ever owned a house here.

I don’t faiult Connery either. Phil Mickelson learned about Scottish taxes the hard way.

Connery is a very famous tight wad.

A friend of mine went to a British boarding school with Connery's son back in the 70s. One day he took them out to lunch. My friend says Connery spent a long time scrutinizing the check, which might have totaled the equivalent of $20, before grumblingly paying.
