Former presidential candidate Jon Huntsman has engaged in discussions with supporters in recent months about pursuing another White House bid this time as an independent, according to three sources close to Huntsman.
The former Utah governor declined to comment for the record. His daughter, MSNBC co-host Abby Huntsman Livingston, who was a surrogate for Huntsmans campaign in 2012, said in an email that her father is primarily focused on family and private-sector endeavors.
She added: He has no plans to run, but in politics never say never. I know there is a lot of pull out there for him to do something as an independent. The sources said Huntsman has talked with supporters and donors about an independent candidacy, and that he appeared open to the idea.
Other friends and former aides, however, suggested that the 2016 conversations were primarily a function of Huntsmans willingness to hear out his supporters not his interest in the race. Fundraising would be a massive obstacle, one his campaign struggled with mightily in 2012. And securing a place on a nationwide ballot is difficult and expensive for any independent candidate.

I’ve not exactly witnessed a groundswell of demand for Huntsman to run for President. Why is he so convinced? What little I’ve seen of him, he’s not exactly personable. There doesn’t seem to be any strong, motivating issue for him. It seems more of an entitlement mentality than anything else, to me. Can someone shed light on this? It’s something of a mystery to me.

He’s hoping this election he might actually get out of “*” territory in the polls and see the heady heights of 1 or 2%!
Geez, Democrats, just give it up!!
My next door neighbor is a raging liberal but she thinks Huntsman is impressive.
Tells me all I need to know.
I wish people would do some research into the “No Labels” and who they are and what they stand for so we can all recognize how dangerous they are.
Things like no negative campaigns against incumbents (No mention of outsiders) and giving presidents absolute free reign over appointments.

He’s a fine Democrat.
They run as “independents” or faux Republicans (as Huntsman has int he past) to split vote or avoid the stigma of their beliefs.
“No Labels” is just a Democrat organization.
Romney lite.
Just saying.
In the last week or so, it seems every non-appealing candidate has someone praising them.
You are right. There IS no groundswell for Huntsman. Not 1 in 10,000 Americans knows him or cares. I believe that like many issues, its the media creating the narrative, for political reasons.
Lite hell, he makes Romney look like Ronald Reagan in comparison.
For president of what? Certainly not the United States
He’ll get votes. From family members.
I don't even remember him running.
