In his new guise as a political commentator for CNN, former White House Press Secretary Jay Carney dished out conventional wisdom on State of the Union Sunday morning, which in this case meant diagnosing the Democrats chances in the upcoming midterms as poor.
Its not going to be a good year for Democrats by definition, Carney said. The sixth year is always particularly bad for a presidents party. You couple that with the fact so many seats are defended by Democrats in red states where Mitt Romney did very well against the president, double-digits in most cases, and theres no outcome in November that anybody could say would be great for Democrats, except for barely holding onto the Senate.
Carney added that this by no means meant the GOP was in the clear. The problem for Republicans if they win is Americans begin to think that we hate Congress and it is now clear that one party is in control of Congress.

Talk to me on November 5th. Until then, it’s all just talk.
I trust none of this until it is “in the bank”.
And these days, that isn’t saying much either.
I’m not so much concerned about whether the GOP takes the Senate so much as if the GOP does take the Senate, they’ll prove to be just as bad as the Democrats.
Even if the GOP does take the Senate, there is little or nothing it can or could accomplish as long BHO is president. He will simply veto everything.
The important thing now is to put everything into place now and build the foundation for 2016. Just as the Dems did in 2006 and were well positioned for 2008.
If republicans take the senate democrats will spend the next two years doing their best to destroy the country so they can use it as an election issue to get the Hildebeast elected in 2016.
A regular Nostradamus, this guy...
I wouldn’t believe a single word that man uttered about anything.
How could the Democrats not easily roll Republicans this November? The economy is growing, they’re adding jobs, obamacare rocks, the world is safer than ever....WTF? Could Carney have been lying all this time?
Yeah, but just imagine how it would make us feel if (say) Dick Morris said this of the Republican's chances.
This has to be heavy for the other side. Sniff.
But Jay, you’ve been telling us for years and even a month ago how great the Economy, Obamacare & Foreign Policy are under Obama?
There should no solace or excuses in losing elections. You should never plan to lose elections.
The Dems don’t think that way. They only think about winning elections. They won a smashing victory in the 2006 midterm elections which prepared the way for their 2008 victory.
Voter fraud is Sooo advanced I remember the republican primarys of 2012..
Right after the 2010 shellacking by conservatives; in the 2012 republican primarys quite literally ALL conservative candidates were(seemed to be) totally REJECTED(quite harshly)...... AND a very well known collaborator with democrats was chosen INSTEAD.... a shill.. a poseur.. RINO... some say “moderate”.. BUT a known “TOOL” of democrats was chosen(Myth Romney)..
AND thats not all... republicans across the board REFUSED to notice “IT”...
STILL refuse to notice it.. and are doomed to repeat it..
and basically could care less.. thinking elections can/could STILL BE be HONEST!!!..
Republicans seem to be autistic.. “stupid” could be hyperbole..
That, I could believe.
Do an image search for “smarmy” and a photo of him will probably show up...
If there are federal court vacancies in the last two years of Obama’s presidency, GOP control of the Senate could help prevent Obama from appointing radical liberal judges. Such nominees would not get confirmed by a GOP Senate, if the GOP stands opposed to such nominees, that is.
I would not hand Hildebeast the throne just yet.
Two years is a LOOOOONG time. She is no spring chicken. She has health issues. And she is not nearly Socialist enough for today’s core Democrat voter.
sandbagging....
Yes. You are exactly right. A GOP control can block appointments.
But I was thinking about policy and legislation. BHO will simply veto everything that comes out of Congress. So we will not see much of a change in policy or direction until a new POTUS is elected in 2016.
I fail to get too excited.
Sure R majority in the Senate will slow the damage being done to our country.
But to actually set policy, we need 2/3 majority to override vetos. At this point it’s a mathematical impossibility.
