Chicago Liberals Outlaw the Firearm Industry
Townhall.com ^ | September 15, 2014 | Michael Schaus

Chicago Liberals have decided to do what they do best: kill businesses and ban firearms simultaneously. The new gun laws proposed by the city of Chicago are being described (by admitted leftists) as the “smartest in the Nation.” Needless to say: They’re pretty dumb.

A Federal Judge demanded earlier this year that the city develop an actionable plan to allow gun sales within city limits. Of course, not all (or any) of the city council members seem on board. Ald. Water Burnett Jr said of the gun stores, “I don’t think we want these kinds of things in our communities at all.”

Well, sure… I can understand that. And the city’s absolute ban on firearm dealers within city limits has been such a rousing success so far (sarcasm font), it only makes sense that we limit lawful businesses from the utopia-that-is Chicago.

Among the provisions are a slew of discouraging requirements: Dealers will be subjected to a $3,800 yearly fee; all transactions will be videotaped and subjected to arbitrary waiting periods; all shops would be subjected to quarterly inspections; Police supervised training would be mandated for all shop employees; all owners will be required to maintain a $1 million liability insurance policy; safety plans (whatever the heck that is) will be a requisite; and various ammunition will be banned altogether.

Oh yeah, and no gun store will be allowed in a private residence or within 500 feet of a park, school, or any building used for city, state, or federal purposes… In other words: There’s about 4.73 inches of Chicago that can house a gun store. (Okay, that’s an exaggeration. But 99.5 percent of the city will be effectively off limits to the industry.)

The ironic part of this 30 page plan, is that the only people it keeps from gaining access to lawfully provided firearms are the impoverished and disadvantaged. I mean, let’s face it: A rich guy can easily venture outside of Chicago city limits and avoid getting his purchase videotaped (not to mention foregoing the city-mandated 72 hour “waiting period” for a purchase). It’s the very people plagued by inner-city violence that are the most likely to suffer as a consequence from limited access to lawful tools of self-defense.

But, then again, what do you expect? Gun control in America has its roots in racism, Jim Crow, and oppression. In fact, rarely throughout world history has gun control been used as a tool to increase the safety of the general public. It has routinely been used to keep the masses beholden to government “protection”. Chicago’s proposal has an eerie similarity to the race-based initiatives proposed by Ku Klux Klan Democrats in the post-war South.

But, maybe I’m over-reacting. After all, according to the Leftists in charge, these are the “smartest” gun regulations in the nation.

Kinda funny. I live in a dry county and there are liquor stores just the other side of the county line. Chicago can fret all it wants about gun stores. They can’t do much about outside of city limits or, more to the point, outside of Cook county. So they can kick the businesses out. It will just impact their tax base negatively to a degree.

This plan, like all other gun control plans, is designed to keep guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens since it will do nothing to keep them from criminals. How soon will it be before Rahm is voted out in favor of a black Obama clone who will organize street gangs into death squads roaming the streets of Chicago?

Can you say Mayor Preckwinkle? Let them have Chicago and see how they manage to run it. It has to get a whole lot worse before it can get any better.

Florida’s Duval county, AKA Jacksonville, for decades had a ‘No alcohol sales on Sundays’ ordinance. Liquor stores were all along the county lines doing very good business on Sunday’s. Jacksonville eventually saw that they were missing out on lots of tax money so they got rid of the ordinance. The county line liquor stores eventually went out of business...................

If I were a multimillionaire I would open a massive gun shop in Chicago just to annoy the liberals. In fact, I think I would just go ahead and sell guns below MSRP just to see the heads of liberals EXPLODE! Oh, if only. . .

So the city drafted a foolish, unrealistic and confrontational plan that will get slapped down by the judge. Then they can go out and protest as if its “Selma all over again!” They got what they wanted.

And the rich would be the only ones who could afford to purchase the $1 million liability insurance policy. So the impoverished and disadvantaged are priced out of the ability to purchase a firearm to defend themselves, even if they could buy one locally.

I wonder if they’ll reverse the law when it fails to reduce gun violence. Just kidding. I know they won’t.

I find it funny that so many black “leaders” have signed on for a return to the Slave codes and Black code days.

Now they are trying to get everyone under those codes.

The Catholic county next to my baptist county is getting all the tax money. Their schools are noticeably better bcause of it. My county is starting to get it, but the high powered Baptists here still insist on getting their liquor from the neighboring county.

It doesn’t really impact me. I have no kids in school and I’m just a couple of miles from the county line and a very reasonably priced liquor store. ;-)

The scofflaw gang members (who are both the predators and the primary targets of illegally procured guns) do not much respect the fact that the Chicago city council has made the sale and distribution of guns illegal within city limits. Their supply of firearms and street fighting “enhancements” like steel-toed boots, brass knuckles, knives and lead-filled clubs, in addition to bad attitudes and attention-deficit disorders, has made much of Chicago a Third-World jungle.

You discourage predators in the jungles by allowing those who pass through the jungle to carry personal defense when subject to being preyed upon. Policemen are too heavy to tote around, so that is why God invented tasers and Colt pistols.

Glocks and Lugers are also satisfactory, as well.

“It’s called Detroit.”

Actually Detroit may have hit bottom and be headed upward once again. But Chicago needs to fall hard so the liberal “stranglehold” on it it finally broken.
