My Scott ancestors have been fighting for centuries for independence from England’s forced rule. Always out numbered and over armed. You really have to know how oppressive Brit rule was on the Scots and Irish, they were less than human. The Brits raped, pillaged, and burned their way across Wales, Ireland and Scotland. And what the Brits did not destroy the Clearances finished, when the new English lords holding the property and those few Scot lords who curry England’s favor, removed the tenants who produced little, in favor of SHEEP.

From before William Wallace to King Robert Bruce. Scotland has fought for its freedom from England’s oppression.

This got all tied up in the succession to the throne since James 1 who was Elizabeth 1 heir.

Time it happened. Would we as Americans except Brit rule again?

First it was the Romans, then the Brits. http://www.scotland.org/about-scotland/scottish-history/

We here in the north & west of N.J. would love to secede from the rest of the state. There are a whole lot of right thinkers out here.

My alternative is to solidify the border and then purge the blue states of the Northeast. All north and east of New York and possibly including Maryland and New Jersey will be purged. That is , those states will be kicked out of America. They are not American now.

You will want to include Philly and the East side of Pennsylvania in that grouping as well.

“Then there is this..... many of the founding fathers of Texas were from Tennessee and of Scottish Heritage”

Absolutely, during my genealogical background research I found descendants on my Scottish grampa’s side who came to Texas from Tennessee by way of Arkansas. They stole some horses and had to leave Tennessee rather quickly if you know what I mean. Anyway, they got to Texas and brought some fine horses with them. See, we aren’t all descended from Kings and nobles.

Early Texas, somewhat like Australia, offered opportunities to start new lives. Maybe, that’s why Texas was known as the “friendly” state for so may years. As long as you minded your own business, everybody stayed friendly. Even today as much as Obama would like to mind our business, we still believe we can do it better ourselves.

Many are still coming to Texas for new opportunities due to our robust economy and somewhat “throwback” society. Hopefully, they are coming in the spirit of which Texas was founded, not to turn Texas blue. We are not as progressive as the blue states, things move in different directions, and the pace is a little slower in Texas. I think that’s part of our success. Rule 1: If you are coming to Texas, be sure you are coming to change YOUR lifestyle, not ours. Otherwise, Texans may not be so friendly toward you.

No, we are not ready to secede from the Union yet. But, we are keeping a watchful eye. There may come a time we have no choices if we want to remain free and independent of the liberalism and socialism that is enveloping America. When that time comes, we will be prepared.

The way I see it this is enviable not only for Europe but theses united States as a product of changing global economic and relations.

As we grow more diverse we become less governable at one.

While at the same time the Elites on high conspire with foreigners to form a kind of international cartel imposing a form of Global government that in many ways has replaced the legitimate role of our Existing Federations and/or united Kingdoms.

In simple American terms Washington is trying to surrender its unique sovereignty role & authority to the U.N. while at the same time trying to replace that power and role with Powers & roles they steal from our States.

The simple answer is, if the UN is to be the new Federation, we don’t need or want Washington D.C. anymore.

Scotland must be in a similar situation with regard to not only the U.N. but the E.U. Who could blame them for rationally wanting to cut the unnecessary tied to England who has historically abused them from hundreds of years.

All theses big European bankers are just afraid of losing existing long term investments to new opportunities that their scale would not advantage them to take.

As for Washington, our We & our States need to make one thing critical clear to federal politicians. They can control our foreign policy(war & peace) or the U.N can. Either way we are getting rid of one of them. The American is too big and too diverse to be governed domestically from Washington D.C.

The last thing we need is more tiny east coast states, so unless your planning to join New York or Pennsylvania, you better be planning to be an independent country.

Frankly even that would be objectionable, because in the next thousand year or so much of your state will be underwater.

New England needs to be merged into 1 state, and frankly Delaware, Maryland, and/or New Jersey and Pennsylvania should be merged.

Only then will you have sufficient inland landmass to endure with respect to the enviable geological changes of the next few hundred to a thousand years. It would also make your states more self-sufficient and less likely to go running off to Washington to provide you with your nanny state services.

I would prefer that N.J. be an outpost of Texas or Idaho or
some other sane state. Can you figure out how to accomplish that?

One state couldn’t go it alone, it would take more. I’d be all for Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana teaming up.

But in reality, I don’t think it’s possible. Things are to intertwined to break.

There would be true irony if Texas were to succeed from the United States only to later hold a referendum to merge with Mexico. Succession would permanently shift the political spectrum in the rest of the U.S. toward socialism and not be a good neighbor to an independent Texas. Short of some kind of forced ethnic cleansing, the demography already within Texas today would eventually bring it back to Mexico. Texans need to carefully consider the long term consequences of this decision.

Texas is 1.1 times the size of France.

Your statement only bolsters my observations.

France is indeed only at place 42 with regards to surface area.

If Texas wants to merge with Mexico..., then they can stay the current course. They will not need to succeed since the Feds have ordered a stand down at the border. They are already well on their way to merging with Mexico.

However, if they were to succeed, then I would imagine one of their first orders of business would be to sweep out all the illegals.

So would it be accurate to say Scotland is to England as Puerto Rico is to the United States; a receptor of fiscal support but with less status and voting power than an actual British Citizen? I just don’t know. I haven’t thought very much about Scotland at all. Although I did enjoy my brief, uneventful visit to Leith, Scotland during the Thatcher Era. It may have been in 1980, when I was in the Navy. I recall the dark pubs and the warm beer.
