A recent poll showed support for a "Yes" vote for Scotland independence went into the lead for the first time, overcoming a 20 percentage-point deficit.
This set off a flurry of activity including ...
- An emotional "I would be heartbroken" plea by UK prime minister David Cameron
- A tearful speech by former prime minister Gordon Brown
- Fearmongering tactics by both sides
- Promises of more political independence for Scotland
Did it work?

“If Scotland breaks away who will pay for their total nanny state?”
Or if Scotland breaks away who will pay the bill for hapless total nanny state of “The Lesser UK”?

If Scotland breaks away who will pay for their total nanny state? Not who. What. That would be oil. 1m barrels a day spread out over 5m people. Norway does 2m barrels a day and has close to 2x US GDP per capita.

I agree with you. England cannot continue on the same course without those funds. But it’s just one of many reasons they don’t want Scotland to break away.
To: Kaslin
The question lies in the accuracy of the polls. I guess we’ll just have to see.

Scotland is the most socialist part of the UK and receives a lot more than it contributes. It also has a large Muslim population, mostly on welfare.
Hope the Scots enjoy supporting them on their own!

If I were a Scot, I’d vote for independence, throw out the bankers, become the next Switzerland, sell oil to the desperate EU and rejoice.

Scotland contributes more than it gets, and as for Muslims, we have a pop of 0.9%.
Try learning something about my country.

Has Scotland run out of OPM yet?I may be wrong, but I believe that is exactly backwards.
