Drip eeks it out sparingly

But drip takes a lot of set up time.

You have to decide what is more valuable; time or water.

Even a small leak would be a disaster because how do you plug such a leak?

Interesting idea.

It rather depends on the size and shape of the hole and the material the tank is made of.

But for a round hole there are any variety of expansion plugs.

For other shape small holes they make putty that solidifies when exposed to water.

Large holes you most likely would just have to wait until the tank is empty.

But this tank could be constructed by connecting a number of smaller tanks with PVC ball valve between them. In the event of a leaks you could close the connecting ball valves until the leaking tank was repaired.

there is the seasonal issue isnt there

Im down in San Anselmo...not that far from rohnert park.

the local water district...spent an hour....looking for a shut off valve....for a fire hydrant juts down the street.

300K gallons of water were wasted during that hour according to the fire department

the shut off valve was mere inches from the hydrant but no one knew where it was when the hydrant blew.....because....it was underwater....

Id bet competance at that level....is rife in many many areas...
