Yes, a female Don Rickles. She was funny and so quick. But her jabs at people were very uncomfortable to hear, and often very distasteful. They say she said what we all are thinking. Well, not me...I don't think that way, and I would not say it if I did. Too crude for me. But, I admired her brilliance.

Good for her!
God Bless you, Joan, you are missed.

Peggy Noonan wrote this past week that Rivers was Republican. Rivers described herself as a "California Republican" - fiscally conservative, socially liberal.

Carson liked to drink but the decision to put Leno in his chair belonged to NBC. They surmised (correctly) that Leno would have better appeal at 11:30—and they were correct. Leno beat Letterman like a drum for 20 years, and made millions more for his network.
If the decision had been left to Carson, his replacement would have been David Letterman. But Leno relentlessly lobbied for the job while Letterman thought he would get it by acclamation. As I recall, Carson never appeared on the Tonight Show after Leno took over but did appear on Late Night and even contributed jokes to the show.

I guess Carson saw in Letterman someone more like himself - inherently mean...difference being that Carson could actually be funny.

She really became a female Don Rickles times tenI'm sorry Joan Rivers died and recognize that her relatives and friend seem to have real affection for her. But I will not miss her brand of "humor"....as with Don Rickles and Lisa Lampanelli, I just don't get what's funny about them. Opinionated-insulting tirades are not humor.

Log Cabin variety I reckon because one reason she became an ordained minister was to perform homosexual “marriages”.
RIP and hope the River’s family find Truth in their time of grief.

"Rivers described herself as a 'California Republican' - fiscally conservative, socially liberal"
You can't be both....the terms are mutually exclusive.
Methinks Joan was politically very street-wise and well-informed on current events....but she was undoubted not exactly a mensa when it came to the basics of economics and national/international political reality and history.
Too bad she wasn't a well-grounded and educated freeper.

I think Joan called Adele fat, and refused to apologize..So Adele badmouthed Joan all over London. Talented girl, but thinskined and easy to press her buttons.
