New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie appears to have largely moved past the lane-closing scandal that rocked his administration and threatened to derail his political career one year later. But many outside his tight inner circle are still waiting for investigations to conclude before making up their minds.
What happens next will depend largely on the outcome of the investigation by the U.S. Attorney in New Jersey into the lane realignments that started a year ago Tuesday on the George Washington Bridge and were apparently hatched by the Republican governors aides as political payback. That includes how close they cut to Christie and whether any new evidence emerges pointing to him knowing more about the plot earlier than hes said. Its not known when, or if, indictments could come.
A state legislative committee has also been investigating the allegations, while the Manhattan District Attorney and Securities and Exchange Commission have been looking into potential abuses of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey money on another bridge.

BTW, funny how government control of roads has limited crossings of the Hudson River between the two states to a mere three. Just a side thought.
MSNBC is still beating this dead horse. They have a lot invested in this non-story.
Christy is hoping what he loses in weight, and he really is losing weight, will be gained in credibility with his party. I hope he has a Plan B. Maybe he can star on one of those Biggest Loser Tv shows and win prizes.
Regardless of what you may think of Chris Christie, I think it’s interesting that this bridge “scandal” broke right after a series of polls showed Christie defeating Hillary in 2016.
Caveat, I can’t stand Christie.
But it’s quite telling that the MSM attempts to blow this into an ongoing scandal while they ignore or dismiss scandals that really are ongoing like Benghazi and the IRS.
I’m not a huge CC fan, but this ‘scandal’ was bogus from the start.
Even if there was something to it, compared to what the msm turns a blind eye to bridgegate amounted to a big yawn.
Bridge Gate is still on the Democrats front and has not gone away! If CC announces for candidacy of POTUS it will re escalate. I for one was a Cristie supporter but after 5 years living in NJ it seems he can spout a big wind but not much has changed! He however did inherit a Gov. Sys. full of corruption! Jersey borrowed close to a Billion and lost it on the stock market they were gonna turn it into The Golden Pot! Hard to recover that. Tax money in this state is vaporized before it can be utilized! We need another billion to fix the roads from last winter and it on us again with no relief. Looks like higher gas with a new gas tax!
His major mistake was ponying up to 0 and we still have peeps with out homes rebuilt! The Democrats wall is too hard to pierce. On and on and on!
“Regardless of what you may think of Chris Christie, I think its interesting that this bridge scandal broke right after a series of polls showed Christie defeating Hillary in 2016.”
Exactly. This so called “scandal” cropped up in response to the series of polls. Hillary isn’t as beloved as she thinks she is.
I didn’t know about that billion, but I had heard that Christie was also counting on quite a bit of tax revenue from a new casino called Revel in Atlantic City.
Not only did that casino not come through, but several others are about to close their doors. Apparently the casino business has seen better days. I’m sure you know the ripple effect of businesses closing.
AKA Housing Bubble!
Yea A/C needs to clean up it’s act. There has been a lot of crime involving tourists and Gamblers! Plus Philly has Casinos now and are close so why drive all the way to A/C when in a 12 mile drive I can do the same! NY is looking at Casinos as well. A/C has lost it’s heyday for sure!
