“Lethal” Weapons? OMG, you mean they are being supplied with weapons that can actually kill people?
Prior to Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces was selling many hundreds of its former Soviet T-72 tanks abroad, because the spare parts to maintain the T-72s were not available from Russia. Although the Ukraine may find some use for the T-72 tanks in the urgency of the present Russian invasion of the Ukraine, any T-72 tanks the Ukraine may want to re-import would need the maintenance support needed to keep them in the filed long enough to prove useful.
The most expedient weapon delivery would be antitank missiles such as the Javelin, which have very little special training requirements or support.
Provide the Ukrainians with 1,000 antitank missiles with a bit of hunter-killer team instruction, and watch those Russian armored columns burn.
No amount of weapons are going to make the Ukrainian conscripts better fighters. Fortunately the Ukies themselves are waking up to that fact, even if their fascist government hasn’t.
The Russian neck is being stretched long and thin in Ukraine. Now is the time to supply the weapons.
I recommended supplying them with Nerf weapons. Once the Russians see how peaceful the Ukrainians were, they will switch to Nerf too, and thousands of lives would be saved. It worked so well with Obama’s outreach to Islam, that I’m surprised we aren’t trying it again in the former Soviet Union.
