We sent a new class of leaders to D.C., but immediately the permanent political class tried to co-opt them because the reality is we are governed by a permanent political class, until we change that. They talk endlessly about cutting government spending, and yet they keep spending more. They talk about massive unsustainable debt, and yet they keep incurring more. They spend, they print, they borrow, they spend more, and then they stick us with the bill. Then they pat their own backs, and they claim that they faced and solved the debt crisis that they got us in, but when we were humiliated in front of the world with our countrys first credit downgrade, they promptly went on vacation. No, they dont feel the same urgency that we do. But why should they? For them business is good; business is very good. Seven of the ten wealthiest counties are suburbs of Washington, D.C. Polls there actually and usually I say polls, eh, theyre for strippers and cross country skiers but polls in those parts show that some people there believe that the economy has actually improved. See, there may not be a recession in Georgetown, but there is in the rest of America.
Yeah, the permanent political class theyre doing just fine. Ever notice how so many of them arrive in Washington, D.C. of modest means and then miraculously throughout the years they end up becoming very, very wealthy? Well, its because they derive power and their wealth from their access to our money to taxpayer dollars. They use it to bail out their friends on Wall Street and their corporate cronies, and to reward campaign contributors, and to buy votes via earmarks. There is so much waste. And there is a name for this: Its called corporate crony capitalism. This is not the capitalism of free men and free markets, of innovation and hard work and ethics, of sacrifice and of risk. No, this is the capitalism of connections and government bailouts and handouts, of waste and influence peddling and corporate welfare. This is the crony capitalism that destroyed Europes economies. Its the collusion of big government and big business and big finance to the detriment of all the rest to the little guys. Its a slap in the face to our small business owners the true entrepreneurs, the job creators accounting for 70% of the jobs in America, its you who own these small businesses, youre the economic engine, but you dont grease the wheels of government power.
So, do you want to know why the permanent political class doesnt really want to cut any spending? Do you want to know why nothing ever really gets done? Its because theres nothing in it for them. Theyve got a lot of mouths to feed a lot of corporate lobbyists and a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along.

All public candidates employ speech-writers - who helped her write this one?
She’s still got a big following.
Well, now we know why the GOPe hates her even more than the Democrats do.
Yep, Palin’s arrival on the national scene was the first time I genuinely felt some optimism about the country’s future since Reagan.
So much grassroots energy on display back then. 60,000 to 75,000 people showing up for Palin’s campaign stops. Just like thousands stood out in line in freezing temps during the night waiting for her book signings, the following year. Then, there was all that spontaneous excitement and vigor coming along with the tea-party gatherings in 2010, leading to the mid-term election wins.
All that incredible energy, ready to be tapped and directed against Obama’s marxist agenda. And what does the GOP do with that energy? It did everything it could to pour cold water on it. Backstabbed Palin (repeatedly), exiled tea-party proponents from government committees, set up Karl Rove on FoxNews to push the liberal-GOP agenda, and tried deep-sixing every genuine conservative from power.
I no longer have the slightest shred of faith or trust towards the GOP anymore. My lifetime support of the Republican Party died then and there. I’d always watched every GOP convention on tv since I was a teen, but in 2012, I couldn’t even bear to watch a moment. The mere thought made me want to throw up. These are no longer people who share my politics, my ideology, or my values. Not this crowd that now controls the GOP. A crowd that nominates a liberal Massachusetts governmor who stood for government healthcare, cap-and-trade, and helped facilitate homo-marriage. To hell with that.
Her speech had particular significance for me. That's the last time I watched TV.
I had been considering giving it up for sometime, mostly because I was tired of having my IQ insulted by all the tripe that had become TV. Hearing Sarah's speech was a highpoint for me and I figured what better way to end my TV watching career.
I have never regretted giving up TV. I get my news from the truck radio and here on FR. There's been very few times when something major has happened and I did know about it in a timely fashion.
