British troops set to head for war-torn Ukraine

A platoon of about 30 men may take part in an annual US-Ukraine exercise involving hundreds of troops around Lviv near the Polish border.

Reserves minister Julian ­Brazier made the announcement while visiting a 120-strong group from the 1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster's Regiment taking part in a Nato exercise in Poland.

It is one of a series of exercises in eastern Europe designed to reassure Nato member states and to deter Russian aggression.

So American and British and other NATO troops will be operating in Ukraine, like they do every year.

That will probably be a revelation, and annoyance, to some pro-Russia posters.

I mean if the Russians & their terrorist buddies can shoot a commercial jet liner out of the sky, those troops should be absolutely safe. Nobody would be crazy enough to attack UK or American troops in the Ukraine. What could possibly go wrong after all Liviv is a long way from the front in eastern Ukraine.

No, that is not how world wars start. They don’t start by accident. The First World War was started by Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany, and he had been planning its start decades earlier in the 19th Century. He finally put aside other alternative plans for aggression and committed to a war of aggression which resulted in the First World War.

likewise with the Second World War. Germany began the planning for the Second World War while Hitler was still nothing more than a recently discharged Army private with no connection to the organizations which later gave rise to the NSDAP (NAZI Party). Hilter simply worked his way up in the ranks of Germany until he became the leader of a Germany whose armed forces already planned for the next world war.

then there is Japan, who also started to plan for its role in starting and participation in the 20th Century World Wars in the 19th Century. This planning included the deliberate national program of increasing the birth rate to produce enough males of military age to conduct major offensive military campaigns in the 1930s and 1940s. This planning prepared the Japanese navy to conduct offensive operation in 1944, but those plans were accelerated to December 1941 to forestall the scheduled American graduation of its first Filipino Army units in March 1942 and full independence by 1944.

So it is today. Putin and his Russian regime have been preparing for their wars of aggression since before Putin was anyone of any importance and before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Putin’s latest efforts at aggression are a continuation of what Russia was doing in Moldava in 1992.

Regardless of what NATO and the United States chooses to do, a world war will occur only when and if Putin and/or his Russian regime choose to engage in conflict and choose to enlarge any such conflict into a world war. So long as Putin and Russia do not want a war, NATO could invade Russia itself, and they would make some excuse why it was not an invasion at all, just as the EU has been doing during the year of 2014 to the present.
