Russia has lost the hybrid war in Donbas. Ukraine army has defeated the terrorists. That is why Kremlin was forced to move its regular troops to Donbas, Ukraine Defense Minister Valery Heletej writes in Facebook Sept. 1.

The regular Russian troops are already in Donbas intending to increase its ground and advance on new territories of Ukraine, he says.

A big war is on our threshold. Unfortunately, in such war the number of casualties may be in thousands and even tens of thousands, he says.

Citing unofficial sources, the minister says Russia has already threatened us to use tactical nuclear weapons if Ukraine army continues its resistance.

I doubt Russia would use tactical nukes in the Ukraine. It’s a genie that I doubt even Putin wants to let out of the box. I’d be interested in other FR opinions on this.

And there are no Americans in Baghdad, not a single one.

Time for Polish, Finn, and Baltic troops to start “vacationing” in Ukraine. Perhaps they can take some fighter-attack aircraft on a cross-country good deal hop.

The only news that is more fantastically unreliable than what comes out of Russia is the breathless propaganda from Ukraine. One day we might find out what actually happened, but even that will be heavily shaded by either side. This kind of fog and bluster used to be the norm, but recent “made for TV” wars have spoiled our appetite for instant details.

Always run reliability check of the source. How reliable are the claims coming from Kiev?

They hired snipers to turn Maidan protest deadly, after the deal was striked and they blamed Yanukovich.

They shot MH17 down and blamed 'terrorists'

They fought "anti terrorist operation" by firing ballistic missiles, using phosphorus bombs and Multiple launch systems on civilians - a full scale terror operation to terrorize 8 million people.

They were telling brazen lies about their victories, they were telling brazen lies about their losses (12,000 KIA so far). They lied the families of KIA.

They were telling lies about "stealth invasion".

Now, they are telling that Russia will use tactical nukes against them.

Everything they say is a brazen lie. When it is proven as being s lie, they move on to another one. MH17 is long forgotten.

IMHO, it is not a question what Freepers think, but why anyone should pay attention what Kiev say when they have impeccable track record of lies, from before they seized power to the present day.

I am afraid this scum is capable of detonating dirty bomb, just like they were capable of shooting civilian airliner down.

I am also saddened how many otherwise smart Freepers fell hook line and sinker for the brazen lies perpetuated by this scum.

"Name and Shame" that Obama. To put it succinctly so that even low information presidents can understand; Russia invaded another sovereign country.

I tend to agree with you. Boy, a nuke going off in Europe!? That MIGHT get pacifist Europe (and the US) to wake up to the fact that Europe has an existential threat brewing on their eastern border!

I think Germany and the Poles can put a few real fighters in the field, don’t know about the rest of them.

Our ROE’s under Jarrett/Obama would probably require our guys to absorb 3 bullets before they could load their gun!

The keyword in this statement is “hybrid warfare”, as opposed to traditional form of warfare when clearly marked enemy formations cross the border. In Ukraine, Russians employed small tactical groups surrounded by crowds of civilians to storm administrative buildings and block military movements. This happened in Crimea when Russian specnaz stormed the parliament and civilians were put in front of tanks and riflemen, daring them to shoot. There’s ambiguity about who is doing this and Russia can deny it because those are unmarked fighters. These same tactics were repeated in E. Ukraine.

What Defense minister claims here is not that they had won the war against Russia but that storming of administrative buildings, which also had been attempted in Kharkiv and Odesa in spring, has ceased and (likely) won’t be attempted again. Knock on wood he’s right.

The Ukraine Army was winning and the circle was tightening on the “rebel” cities until Russia really started pouring over the borders.

They hired snipers to turn Maidan protest deadly, - any evidence at all?

They shot MH17 down and blamed 'terrorists'

any evidence? Case for the terrorists is much stronger.

Same goes for the rest of this Russian agitprop.

Polish troops are already vacationing in Ukraine. Yesterday, soft concrete was poured to seal off exits of the underground supply installation under Donetsk airport where 200 Polish troops are hiding. Unless they surrender, they will be vacationing there permanently.

As mercenaries, they are not protected by Geneva convention.
