I was joking....

Nude pictures of me should only be viewed as a last alternative to irradiating the all those in a fifty mile radius.

It’s that bad.

Seriously?
People are that stupid?
Nothing. let me repeat that so you can hear it.. NOTHING is secure on the web, in the cloud, on a computer, on a phone etc...... If it is out there someone, somewhere can find it and get at it.

Who’s dumber, these girls who trusted their nude pictures to the cloud or the politicians who want to put all of our medical records there... or the voters who elected them? Clinton and Obama never released their own medical records, but, along with some RINO fools, want to put all of ours at risk via electronic medical records.

Given the ability to make nude photos of everyone with Photoshop what difference does it make.

The claim can be “those are not me, they are just photoshopped”

Thank you...even the dimmest bulb in Hollywood should realize that anything on an internet-connected device is within the reach of hackers, and it doesn’t matter how “secure” the network is.

Here’s a little reality check for all the starlets caught in this scandal. If you keep nude selfies (or shots that are even more provocative) on your smart phone or tablet, it’s probably just a matter of time before they make their way into social media, because of a hacker, a disgruntled former assistant, or your own effort to revive a flagging career.

One of the great advantages in being middle aged, out-of-shape and a non-celebrity is the temptation to take a nude selfie is approximately zero. Therefore, the odds of me getting caught in that type of scandal are the same: zero.

I’m amazed that the digital generation doesn’t understand that once they enter something into their devices and/or post it on social media, it’s out there forever. More than a few millenials have been turned down for jobs because of something stupid they placed on social media years ago.

I was at a mentoring session with some younger colleagues a few months ago and was asked for my “advice” on having a successful career. After the usual stuff about working hard, mastering every facet of your job, continuing your education, etc., I offered one more nugget: get off of social media or make your Facebook, Instagram or Twitter account so bland they would lull a reader to sleep.

In the future, employees will be judged by their performance and what their company finds on social media. It will be the corporate equivalent of a letter of reprimand or Article 15 in the military; not enough to end your career on the spot, but something your supervisors and the HR staff can use down the road to deny a promotion or pay raise, or deny a contract extension (if your employment is covered by that type of agreement).

Your post proves how out of touch you are. You’re talking about an A-list Oscar-winning actress who rules Hollywood at age 24 as well as the hottest super model on the planet who doesn’t get out of bed for less than $50,000 a shoot. Sprinkle in some stars who, if anything, will have their brand hurt by these types of photos due to the fact that their main audience is children.

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head!

And for the sake of argument, this is why I never put anything into a "cloud" environment. I'll keep what I got on my computer thank you very much!

From what I’ve read on the subject, this seems to be a combination of two things:

1) For whatever reason, people take these “selfies” on their devices, possibly without the realization that these devices are automatically backed up to a cloud service, and therefore those photos/videos have been uploaded.

2) A lot of poor password practices out there. Full details haven’t been released, but it looks like a brute force password attack targeting the most commonly-used passwords.

Doesn’t sound like a systematic flaw to me, but rather poor judgement - on multiple levels - on the part of the people who got “hacked”.

Not that I’m trying to “blame the victim” here, the people who accessed the accounts and disseminated the pictures are scum, but even though the guy who robs your house is guilty as sin, you’re still due for criticism if you didn’t lock your doors.

What’s missing is that hackers who can hack one account can most likely hack millions. Apple has this diversion going on having everyone concentrate on celebrity accounts when what people should be asking is did someone get into their account.

Your celebrity worship is showing. Everyone deserves security in their personal information. We don’t have royalty in this country.

What are you talking about? I was responding to a poster who said that these girls released these pics on purpose. I said nothing about the criminal act of hacking these pics. So please, chill.

“brute force password attack “

Which is easily stopped, and Apple didn’t stop it. Apple has extremely poor server software and security.

The real story here is that Apple is easily hacked and should never be used due to having poor system and software security. The sad thing is most people do not know that Apple iPhones and iPads by default copy everything to their cloud. Apple claims that is an “automatic backup”, when in my book it is outright theft.

I run an IT security company and have been in hundreds and hundreds of companies. I have also been in hundreds of commercial datacenters and cloud provider facilities.

As a rule they take security very seriously. The smaller application providers are more challenging in some cases but the big ones are quite good.

It really comes down to basics, it is extremely expensive to run a datacenter properly. Companies cut corners on the necessary infrastructure, tools, and employees necessary to do it properly.

Was thinking the same thing, similar to the myriad “accidental” wardrobe malfunctions. It keeps stars or moves has-beens upfront.
