Colorado's Pot Brownies Now Come With Instructions (Can Lawyers be Far Behind?)
NPR ^ | 08/26/2014 | LUKE RUNYON

--snip-- Some eager, inexperienced consumers have overindulged on the pot-infused food and then shown up in emergency rooms sweating and paranoid. Edibles were linked to the death of a Wyoming college student in Denver.

"There's been anecdotal evidence that some of the new consumers in the legalized market were not very well informed in terms of how to safely take that product," said Lewis Koski, Colorado's marijuana enforcement director.

I just spoke to a friend that recently was in Colorado.

He said legalization is drawing in all sorts of undesirables and that the locals hate the new legal pot laws.

Oh no. And they voted for it.

I can just imagine the instructions....

“Chew only small morsels at a time, no more than 2 every 15 minutes, until the desired warm and fuzzy buzz is achieved.

If you should suddenly start seeing purple dragons or black-clad Nazi stormtroopers with Nancy Pelosi’s face, you have indulged too much and should discontinue use.”

Note to self: When in Downtown Denver, selling high capacity rifle magazines out of the trunk of your car, DON’T EAT THE LOCAL FOOD! Buy only from out of state!

I can just imagine the commercials for plaintiff lawyers in about 10 years.

Did you eat Acme pot brownies while pregnant or nursing?
Are you experiencing memory loss, paranoia or cognitive depreciation?
Did you live in Colorado in the last 10 years?
Do you feel unmotivated or depressed?

If you answered yes to any of these questions you may be eligible for a cash settlement.

Unfortunately, even that wouldn't help. Eating the pot-laced goodies hits you a lot harder than smoking it (relative to the amount of pot used) and it has a delayed effect, depending on how quickly your digestion works. So, for example, if you ate a magic brownie at 1:00pm, it could start hitting you at 1:30, 2:00, 3:00pm or beyond. And it keeps hitting you for a while as you digest the brownie and absorb the THC therein over time. So, even if you take nibbles until you feel a buzz and then stop, you could continue to get more and more high for HOURS as the food slowly works its way through your intestines. The big mistake people make is eating a bunch, saying "I don't feel anything" and then eating some more, and by the time they feel the effects, it's too late - even vomiting won't save you because the food is already in your intestines.

“Brownies should be eaten, not rolled and smoked.”

Something tells me this is a lot like the Forest Service’s pamphlet on `How To Toast Marshmallows”. (”Use a stick or toasting fork. Do not use your hands.”)
The ones who should read the instructions, won’t.
