McALLEN, Texas (AP) -- A Border Patrol agent pursuing a group of immigrants in a wooded area near the Texas-Mexico border on Friday fired several shots at an armed man who later identified himself as a militia member.

Border Patrol spokesman Omar Zamora said agents had been chasing a group of immigrants east of Brownsville Friday afternoon when an agent saw a man holding a gun near the Rio Grande. The agent fired four shots, but did not hit the man. The man then dropped his gun and identified himself as a member of a militia. Zamora said no other details were immediately available.

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio, whose agency is involved in the investigation, said the incident occurred on private property and it appeared the man had permission to be there. He was not arrested, Lucio said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was wearing camouflage and carrying a long arm that was either a rifle or shotgun...

Calling others *Catholic haters* for no cause is non-Catholic bashing.

Get over yourself and stop being so stinking thin skinned.

And quit trying to hijack a thread. This is about a border agent shooting at another US citizen.

It’s time they started shooting at the illegals coming over the border who are shooting at, killing, and raping American citizens.

I would wager that 90% of them are illegal (expired visas, or never had one). But that would be me.

You are the realist and quite possibly correct.

>>I know if I were running one of these citizen patrols I would be more than happy to file a daily plan with the BP. Both for the sake of safety and the fact that it frees the BP up for other areas.

Does the BP have a form for that? No form, no file. It is the gummint, ya know.

BP does not care...

They often send ONE agent to investigate most sensor readings, and they are not in an optimal response condition when they do get on scene...

This happens more often than not...

Remember the Cartels are already operating across the border...

They have watchers posted at crossings looking like fishermen with cell phones always talking to someone...And not doing a lot of fishing...

They have thugs doing intel on observers, like us, who come right up to you and try to intimidate you in your “observances”...Where you stay, where you eat, where you walk, someone is always watching you down there...

And it is not the BP...In this case it is a win/win for the cartels...

“A Border Patrol agent with a gun is a very very dangerous person ....”

You are darned right. . .best firearms training of all federal law enforcement Agents.

Perhaps the Agent should have waited until the guy with the gun shot at him?

Why didn’t the militia guy identify himself before the shot was fired?

Coyotes, rip-crews and cartels shoot first if given a chance, and Agent Brian Terry would probably support the Agent in this shoot.

At night, Border Patrol Agent on horse-back, at a gallop, chasing off-road in the desert a SUV driven by a cartel member and loaded with 800lbs of drugs.

The cartel driver swerves and tries to run over and kill the Border Patrol Agent.

Agent quickly draws, fires two rounds and the first round hits the right front quarter panel of the SUV and the second shot goes through the front windshield and hits the front passenger in the right arm, bullet passes through the arm and takes off the ring finger of the bad guys left hand. SUV crashed and they are captured.

Nice shooting, Tex.

That was great shootin’ by the Agent at a full gallop. Hope to never have to be test in that manner for am not an Agent and my skills with rifle and handgun are in the lacking department. Thanks for the post and Thanks for a story with a happy ending.

Yes and its likely the ranchers are hiring or accepting assistance from the militia because the border patrol is totally unable to protect them and their property from the drug cartels and the masses of illegals trooping at will across their property.

The militia are not restricted by Blams ROE’s. They can point a gun at someone and tell them to get off the property or get shot.

BP cannot shoot at criminal illegals. Americans are just fine for target practice.

Would not surprise me in the least if this was a word for word directive from Holder and Obama.

I’m worried about a border patrolman named ‘Omar Zamora’!

Since when does the BP have ammo in their guns? Last I heard, Bammy had forbid them from having ammo-—just ‘bean bags’.

A terrible situation- when ranch owners on the border need volunteer militia members who are guarding their ranches.

God bless those militia members.

At a bare minimum, you communicate your presence and plans and boundaries of operation.

You establish a line of communication with allied personnel operating in the area.

I don’t know the specifics regarding the incident as reports seem to vary a bit.

I’d be of the opinion so far that the BP guys were not aware of the militia guys.

And that’s the militia guys responsibility.

Sounds like they’ve modified their ROE’s-—go ahead and shoot on sight, ask questions later, especially on private property. A few incidents like that and the BP’s can expect the same in return. The story didn’t exactly say they caught the wetbacks they were chasing-—just the first guy who wasn’t moving? For just a few minutes I’m gonna assume we didn’t get the whole story here yet?

Plus the guy would apparently be FACING the border, not running away from it. Add all that up and it’s obvious he needed to be shot. Maybe this shooter was left over from Ferguson and still had some ammo left? And then there’s the triggernometry-—four shots and no hits? This bozo has already failed my class and he’s headed for re-qual first thing next week. Let him shoot up that DHS ammo until he can call a shot.

Why not? Well, could be a sheriff named OMAR? Just guessing but the whole story has the reek of brown stain.

the border patrol guy just opens fire on someone on private property because he’s holding a gun? not aiming towards the guy or firing, just holding it.

yea... that’s the type of professionalism we’ve come to expect from the feds

i predict they are going to push for militia types to ‘coordinate’ with federal types. this will result in the fed types having exact locations and numbers of the militia forces

very useful when the shtf
