Without passage of a spending bill by Sept. 30, the federal government will run out of money and grind to a halt, but leading Republicans, facing the November midterm elections, say they will block any attempt by the party’s conservative wing to force a self-defeating amnesty confrontation with the White House.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told CNN that despite Democrats’ hopeful predictions and right-wing threats that another shutdown is looming, it’s not going to happen.
Asked whether he would favor a government shutdown, McConnell told CNN, “Of course not. I’m the guy that’s gotten us out of shutdowns that some of our members have pushed us into in the past. That’s a failed policy.” …

What is the point of a shutdown? GOP conservatives need to ally with STATE GOVERNORS to announce that whatever Obama does — they will refuse to abide by it. No work permits recognized. No drivers licenses or state benefits for Obama amnesty recipients. And FULL enforcement under 287(g) regulations — meaning unlimited detention of illegal aliens in “Tent city”-like jails under authority granted by Congress in 1996. The STATES are the key now, not the eunuchs in the House GOP “leadership”.

agree 1000%....when your enemy is drowning don’t throw him a lifeline....while I fully expect the GOPe to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, shutting down the gov’t would be akin to the GOPe slicing off their testicles (not that they have any)...

My prediction is that McConnell loses to Grimes in November. Mainly because so many conservatives will simply opt not to vote for him. They may vote in a write-in, or just leave that race blank.
I think it will be a close race because of that, but I see McConnell getting “retired.”
That is EXACTLY what we are campaigning for and doing.
There is not a SINGLE Mitch sign anywhere in the red counties I live in. Nothing but Alison signs and local candidates.
Grimes wins in November and McConnell is unseated and deservedly so.
He does the bidding for the Ruling Class - and runs interference for Obama while warring on Conservatives.
We are better off without him in office.

Real Clear Politics has KY senate as a toss up. You’re right-he’s gone. Toss ups for incumbents are not good.
