MIDWEST CITY, Okla. Officials with the Midwest City Fire Department said ammunition went off during a house fire at 1609 McGregor Drive.
Officials said everyone was evacuated from the home, but two dogs died in the blaze.
Investigators said they believe the fire started in the garage and spread.
The homeowner said ammunition was stored in the garage, and heat caused it to ignite.

So it’s important for us to know this guy had ammunition, even though no one has said it was responsible for the start of the fire or the death of his dogs, because....
Oh yeah, because guns are dangerous and stuff. Take them all away.
Forget saving the house....save the ammo......its irreplaceable!
Fer cryin’ out loud....how many times does the media get it wrong. Ammo doesn’t explode. Neither does smokeless powder. If the cartridge is loaded in the chamber of a gun (or chambers of a revolver), it can fire. Otherwise it goes poot. Black powder too. It does make a pretty hot fire, but it burns fast.
OMG! I hope there weren’t any 22lr in there.
obvious attempt to mislead and scare the public.
I sent the video to my neighbor who’s a firefighter so he could maybe help train other firefighters about the dangers involved in ammo fires. The video is pretty lengthy but sure does show what can happen in ammo fires. It must have been made before ammo prices went BANG!
I was thinking the same thing. I’m so sad.
Producing that video must have been a lot of fun.
Yup. Except for the weeping as the ammo went off. The video is about 26 minutes but I’ll bet they spent a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG time producing it and then editing it down to the half hour(approx) run time. Not to mention, that was a LOT of ammo. (Well maybe not for some :>})
One of my brothers in law in MA has a standing agreement with the local fire department that they should position themselves behind impenetrable berms if his house ever catches on. The local volunteers hunt with him so they know to respect that request.
I’m sorry to hear about the dogs and the ammo. And now this guy has to put up with the ignorant media.
Pity, someone could have had a pretty good weekend at the range with that much ammo.
