Before bloodthirsty ISIS militants beheaded James Wright Foley in a gruesome video posted online, the terror thugs demanded a $100 million ransom for the journalist’s safe return, a report said. The United States refused to pay, according to The New York Times.
It was not clear when the terrorist group made its ransom demand for Foley, who was kidnapped in Syria in 2012, nor is it clear why the US refused, but government sources told the paper that paying such ransoms only helps terror groups.
Several European countries, however, have handed large sums of money to terrorist groups to bring captured citizens home safely.
It was also revealed that US commandos launched a daring raid in Syria to rescue journalist James Wright Foley and other American hostages — but the special forces couldn’t find the captives and left empty-handed, officials revealed Wednesday.
President Obama personally approved the elaborate rescue mission earlier this summer. US soldiers gunned down several Islamic State militants and only suffered one minor injury when an aircraft was hit.
“The US government had what we believed was sufficient intelligence, and when the opportunity presented itself, the president authorized the Department of Defense to move aggressively to recover our citizens,” Lisa Monaco, Obama’s top counterterrorism adviser, said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, that mission was ultimately not successful because the hostages were not present.”

Sources in Syria recognised the man as a point-man for hostage negotiations in Raqqa, where he is said to have held discussions with several families of jailed foreign nationals over the internet.
One former hostage, who was held for a year in Raqqa, told the Guardian the British executioner is intelligent, educated and a devout believer in radical Islamic teachings. That would explain Obama’s “outrage.” The killing of a fellow traveler is apparently rather impactful.

Obama swapped the equivalent of generals for a private. These groups don’t want their low ranking people back. Those people are easily replaced and thus expendable. All of terror is about money. Much like politicians, they live or die off (and reform) on how much money they make.

Not so sure about that. Rumors were that he paid ransom AND swapped terrorists. I would tend to believe that more—anything for muslims, nothing for Americans.
The solution to this whole mess is obvious: threaten to declare war on the UK unless they defeat terrorism. Bammy will implement very severe sanctions against the Brits like a 10% increase on British imports, hold his breath, and golf until this problem is solved, because there’s no one angrier than he is over this whole beheading thing.
James Foley Went Looking to Support Terrorists in Syria, Instead They Cut Off His Head
James Foley was one of a new breed of activists calling themselves journalists. He didn’t travel to report on a story, but to promote an agenda. And the agenda was obvious from his Twitter feed.
Any human life lost is tragic, but a moral individual would have much more empathy for the Syrian Christians who suffered at the hands of Foley’s favorite Jihadists than one of their pet propagandists. For the most Foley only mentioned Syrian Christians when he was promoting the myth that the Sunni Jihadists were actually a secular democracy-loving force that incorporated Christians and Kurds on equal terms.
Foley came to Syria to support the Sunni Islamist rebels against the Syrian government. He was a vehement advocate and while he didn’t necessarily side with any single group, he echoed the one sided narrative rather than telling the truth about the Islamists. His Twitter feed was full of urgings to arm the Jihadists.
Meanwhile he sneered at America’s War on Terror.
He cheered on the Sunni Muslim terrorists fighting to ethnically cleanse the Christians of Aleppo. In the conflict between Israel and Hamas, his tweets and retweets were chock full of pro-Sunni Syrian terrorist propaganda.
When Newsweek’s Muslim Rage cover story came out, Foley mocked it too. Raging Muslims. How silly and Islamophobic.
