I know there are protocols for all of this, but allowing a week of rioting before releasing key information like this is not helpful.

The nation, including itelligent people who share our views, were immediately led to believe the police shot a guy in his back 30 feet away. Now, that’s an impression that’s hard to reverse.

so you want the cops to also go through a public court of opinion without facts.

Here is a better idea, everyone in this country should stop watching the media and get a mind for themselves.

Far too many sheep in this country which become back seat drivers after watching the likes of CNN, MSNBC, FOX

Depends on which 'side' you are on.

Yes, and it is because of the media and the Federal Government, and the Governor of Missouri. Not the local Police Department.

You probably haven't seen or even heard of the Police Report for the shooting incident, because the media doesn't want to publish it. It has been available for days.

I have the report number and pictures of it.

Exactly. That’s why some people still revere St. Skittles. The real facts of how he stalked and attacked Zimmerman only came out at the trial. By then lofo people had made up their minds.

Yes, it’s irresponsible. The leftist narrative should have been smashed at the outset

NEVER let them define the agenda. It’s always wrong and mean spirited and results in miscarriages of justice (LAPD, Duke Lacrosse, Zimmerman, now Wilson)

“I know there are protocols for all of this, but allowing a week of rioting before releasing key information like this is not helpful.”

That depends on the goals of the people with the information. If the goal is to spin this up into a county-wide or state-wide conflagration, then things are on track.

Giving a platform for the hired medical examiner to spout propaganda (”more than one shot equals excessive force”, he “could have had arms in the air”) is a deliberate move.

I submit that no intelligent person will invest him or herself in a press version of events. Especially not "early reports," and especially when there is a racial axe involved. The press is not trustworthy.

Too much like the Trayvon incident where, in initial reports, George Zimmerman was a, “Huge white man, around six four and weighing possibly 250 pounds” and Trayvon was a small black child, I am not exaggerating, that is approximately the version that was being reported. I am a Nordic type white man, six four, muscular, not fat and 250 pounds and I expected Zimmerman to be a much younger version of myself, I was astounded to find that he was in fact a short, rather pudgy looking man of mixed race, with some “African American” heritage. I was even more astounded to learn that the small black boy was in fact nearly as tall as I am, weighed about what I weighed when I was 18 and played football and liked boxing and martial arts. I am convinced that the only reason Zimmerman survived is that he shot Martin in self defense, otherwise he would have been beaten to death.

It is quite possible, even likely, that the facts in the case of “Big Mike” Brown are just as distorted by anti-white racism as the Trayvon Martin case. I am as concerned as anyone about police officers going nuts and shooting innocent people but why does this case warrant such over the top response when the case of two policeman shooting in the head a one armed, one legged man in a wheelchair in a group home for the mentally ill barely made a ripple.

Click on the following link and scroll down slightly and there is a picture of Brian Claunch, a man who had no left arm and no left leg but allegedly hemmed a policeman into a corner WITH HIS WHEELCHAIR FOR PETE’S SAKE and the officer could not escape, Claunch allegedly refused to SHOW HIS HANDS, of course he only had one hand and it contained a ball point pen with which he was said to have cornered a police officer and threatened him so that his partner who WAS NOT CORNERED feared for the safety of the other officer so he shot Claunch dead with one shot, apparently a head shot. Looking at the picture of Claunch I believe I have spotted the reason why his murder did not warrant one one hundredth of the coverage afforded Trayvon Martin or Big Mike Brown and certainly did not result in rioting and looting. Look carefully at the picture and see if you can spot the significant detail which explains why everyone knows the name Trayvon Martin but no one knows the name Brian Claunch.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/23/us/texas-amputee-shooting/

Then there is the question of why everyone heard all about the death of Matthew Shepard but almost no one has heard about the death of Jesse Dirkhising. I will offer a clue as to why, Shepard was a GAY MAN, Dirkhising was a thirteen year old boy, killed in a most hideous manner BY TWO GAY MEN. News coverage in this nation is so warped that it makes “Baghdad Bob” look like the soul of journalistic integrity.

Intelligent people knew better than to take that at face value.

There are folks who immediately suspect the worst from the police. They hear the first skewed reports of most infractions regarding the police, and seldom hear the truth that comes out later on. Then they form an opinion about all the police. Of course they’ll deny it.

All of us want rogue cops taken down. We just need to be more discerning about who actually is a rogue cop.

Thread after thread here exists with people who detest the police. Not a one of them is brave enough to face what this cop faced in his line of work.

They are brave enough to assassinate his character from the nose bleed seats though.

Don't you just know there must be a testy conversation going on between the Governor's office and the local PD right about now.

....”allowing a week of rioting before releasing key information like this is not helpful”.....

Baloney!....Investigations are not done like ordering McDonald Hamburgers.

And who “allowed” the rioting? Nobody put a gun to these peoples head to go into the streets BEFORE the Investigation and facts were compiled.

It’s evident no matter what the Investigation shows....they’ve declared what they want is the cop arrested. ..and facts of the case are immaterial to most.

“Now, that’s an impression that’s hard to reverse.”

Agree with you, but you’re in effect wanting the police department of a fairly minor town (or township or whatever the heck it is) to complete with the full-on media pile-on/feeding frenzy. The media, of course, can say absolutely anything as long as they do not commit outright libel and simply apologize for it and it’s over. The police department probably is scared out of its freaking mind as to the possible implications of every conceivable action that could ever make, including the sequence thereof, and the implications of any sort of news release...especially looking forward to department testimony in the inevitable trial of the officer. They have the DOJ and the FBI and half a dozen other agencies breathing down their necks. The potential legal bill for defending this cop is probably roughly equivalent to their annual budget.

You get my drift.

You assume the police had all the facts at their fingertips. They did not.

It looks to me like they double and triple checked their facts before releasing the. To blame the police for the actions of the media is uncalled for. They have no control over what the media is doing. I would commend the police for making sure they stood on solid ground rather than react. To assume that if they had blasted unsubstantiated facts over the airwaves would have stopped the rioting is totally naïve. The rioters and racebaiters were going to do what they did whether the officer was in the right or in the wrong!

hussein, holder, jessie and al all had to have known every detail of Wilson's injuries and that he did not shoot their darling son in the back yet they PURPOSEFULLY set out to incite riots and stir up racial tensions. They're evil doers and terrorists.

Totally agree with you. There is absolutely no excuse for it.

Haven’t had time to read through the entire thread yet. But if this info about eye socket damage is true, it should have been released the very first day when Brown was shot.
