There's another suspected case in Spain, too, but I gotta go to work and no time to post.
Despite the endemic outbreak in West Africa commercial air service to the region continues. Since the West will suffer only an occasional case or a limited endemic outbreak, the powers that be have decided it would be very politically incorrect to suspend air services. Hope they are correct.
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?
“According to the Berliner Zeitung, she said she had had contact with victims of the deadly disease in her homeland”.
what, the Germans don’t even ask this question to travelers coming through immigration?
Austria too.
Just went to source site. It was updated:
“DDP/The Local | 19 Aug 2014, 14:16
Update: Around 600 people are quarantined inside a Job Centre in Pankow after a 30-year-old West African had been taken to Berlin’s Virchow hospital after showing symptoms of Ebola.”
“Berlin’s Virchow Clinic has 20 beds ready for suspected Ebola cases.”
Might need more beds.
