i wouldn’t even do the homework in HS algebra. The teacher forced me after i aced the exams that i couldn’t finish the semester until all the homework was completed. so the last day of the semester i sat in the class and did all the homework.

For every Lisa Randall, there are roughly twenty Edward Wittens, Roger Penroses, Stephen Hawkings, Gerhard ‘t Hoofts, ... [and that’s a very conservative estimate.]

also you don’t learn math by sitting attentively. You read and understand the rules. and apply the rules to the problem. Later you look a the problem then figure out which rules solve the problem.

Could boys fighting each other over anything or even nothing have something to do with this? Or are we too busy blaming “the system” to discuss what boys are doing to themselves and each other that could cause them to fail at higher rates.

Boys are not the only troubled creatures on the planet.

Do tell about how girls can hit and even kick boys in the nuts for no reason, and nothing is ever done about it.

And don't forget to explain why the boys' own fathers are among those who do nothing about it.

Modern America has no use for brave, courageous, independent men; it wants a society of obedient drones. Women serve this purpose better

You got that right.

Plus, why should a young man better himself economically? Used to be, your reward was a wife to keep house, raise your children, and bring you your slippers; and best of all, you were king of your castle.

Not anymore. A young man would have to be a fool to marry these days--society and the laws are against husbands and fathers, and even in cases where a young fellow seems to have everything in place: a nice career, a compliant wife, there is little guarantee his career won't be outsourced or replaced by computerization, leaving him a middle aged relic with all kinds of debts, obligations, liabilities--and a wife who then turns on him.

No future in it.

Better for young men to stand aside, play video games, and loaf through life.

” Yet one has to be pretty up on math as a string theorist.”

My cat is pretty up on it!

As I recall it was the same title,

It seems to be gone now, but as I recall, it said something like "Final proof girls smarter than boys"

140/1000 x 115 vac = about 16 volts? Make it 15 volts for circuit losses?

I was at a parent night for 4th grade where the parents were criticizing the male teacher for letting the kids go outside for 20 min recess - they were missing out on valuable reading time!!!! he put them in their place, letting them know in strong terms how much better his class performed after being allowed to let off some steam. sadly, he has retired - recess is a thing of the past.

now, you have an antsy boy - just drug him!

You could as easily have asked what the symbols in that drawing (schematic, for the techies) means, and few would even have a clue.

Personally I think women should just be women and Men should just be men.

Life would be a lot simpler.

21.4 VDC

Don’t ask me how.

I would take the primary windings divide by the secondary windings, then convert RMS to Vpp subtract 2X .7 to account for forward voltage drop on 2 diodes since only 2 are forward biased at a time Then convert back to RMS.

Jeez I’m getting old and have not studied theory in a looong time.
