Ukraine Says Troops Entered Rebel-Held City

Army troops have penetrated deep inside a rebel-controlled city in eastern Ukraine in what could prove a breakthrough development in the four-month-long conflict, the Ukrainian government said Sunday.

However, the military acknowledged that one of its fighter planes was shot down by the separatists, who have been bullish about their ability to continue the battle and have bragged about receiving support from Russia.

Ukraine's national security council said government forces captured a district police station in Luhansk on Saturday after bitter clashes in the Velika Vergunka neighborhood.

Separatist officials in Luhansk could not be reached by telephone, and a separatist spokeswoman in Donetsk, the other rebel strong-hold in eastern Ukraine, said she did not know what had happened in Luhansk.

That’s funny. You can’t have a sustained rebellion when the only people who join it are morons in love with Putin. Geez, besides being cruel and stupid, Putin’s proxies and surrogates are some terrible guerrillas. They advertise on social media that “Hey, we just shot down a plane with missiles our beloved shirtless leader gave us.” Only to find out that they’ve killed nearly 300 noninvolved civilians from all over the world. Then, they brag about the training and weapons their former KGB boss (and future pope of The Church of Putin the Holy) has given them. They’re nitwits.

LOL. Such a nice “anti-terrorist” weapon. Must be that non-howitzer which is non-shelling residential areas in Luhansk and Donetsk.

Putin is a bully and you can easily see that in the “so what?” attitude of the supporters he attracts.

Every citizen killed is because Russian Terrorists hide behind them, just like cowardly Hamas.

And if Putin invades Ukraine, he’s going to use what weapons? I’ll tell you what he’ll do. He’ll do to the Ukrainians the same thing that he did the Chechens. He’ll smash them with overwhelming power. And don’t pretend you think otherwise. Now, he should leave them alone and leave their country to work it’s way through the troubles he’s caused.

Sorry, no sympathy for the Chechens.

Putin’s still shooting down planes. Once a terrorist gets the taste of innocent blood, there is often a craving for more. No airliner is safe.

How about the Chechens fighting for the Russian rebels? I've gotta imagine you have sympathy for them.

I'm not defending Putin or the rebels, but it's crazy to suggest that large segments of the population in Eastern Ukraine aren't supporting the rebellion. Ukraine is sharply divided.

It’s crazy to say I suggested otherwise.

Just like It would be crazy to suggest that large segments of the population in Gaza aren’t supporting Terrorist Hamas.

Nor have I, but I think it’s how Putin will operate regardless of where he orders his troops. He’s ruthless, cruel, and crass. Anyone thinking how he treated Chechens is different is likely to be in for a big surprise if he goes full Putin in another neighboring country. In his guts he’s a Stalinist bitch.

Now, let’s be honest. When Chechens fight for Putin, they’re not really Chechens anymore.

Well you called them Russian terrorists. Some of the rebels are Russian and plenty aren't -- they're Ukrainian. The effect of calling the rebels "Russian terrorists" was to imply that this isn't a civil war, which of course it is (albeit one sponsored by the Russians).

The things you writing in this thread suggest you are a low information poster, so instead of wasting our time go read the hundred or so threads on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and do some research on just how little support this small number of rebels have in eastern Ukraine. Out of millions of Ukrainians in eastern Ukraine the Russian terrorists (rebels) who were living in Ukraine is about a thousand. All the rest were sent in by Russia.
