Racial disparities tend to exist where one doesn't expect them. Situations provoke them to appear, and if we're willing we take notice and act. For decades, social justice advocates have referenced the racial disparity in citations and arrests for marijuana.
liberal blah, blah . .
Ending the war on marijuana won't end racial disparity in Oregon, but it would diminish it. Criminalizing marijuana allows racial inequality to fester. We can't reduce racial disparity where we don't know it exists, nor when we lack practical solutions. In the case of marijuana arrests, we have both. Isn't it responsible and necessary to adjust?

I suppose we'll have to legalize attacking cops, then stealing, then murder, . . . .

There's that disclaimer again. Of course nothing, absolutely nothing, will ever end the so-called "disparity" (which always lies at the feet of whites, not blacks). because the "disparity" is too useful to the race baiters to ever end.

I don’t buy the race component at all, but almost everyone in my Prosecutor’s Office and most of the cops thought it should be legalized.

I bet throwing a few bricks of Marijuana into the rioting crowds in Misery Missouri would have stopped them.

If we legalize all criminal conduct we won’t have anymore crime.

And lowering their academic scores, and flunking public service tests, and having more children (that one at least is true), and committing more crime, etc.

Legalizing marijuana would cut deeply into that market and the finances of minorities, especially the celebrated hip-hop, gang-bang culture. And then there are other drugs in the black market, such as coke, meth and smack. If minorities will benefit from legalizing marijuana, they would benefit more from legalizing other drugs too. What would the bangers do? Maybe they could pimp their mamas, but who would want the product?
